Help! CJ7 idles smoothly, runs good until about 35mph, then commences to sputtering badly. Have Weber carb with fuel pressure regulator installed (5 psi). New fuel filter with proper return line to gas tank installed. Any ideas?
Sounds like you've lived this problem before!! Thanks for the reply. I've changed out the fuel pump and all the fuel line downstream of the fuel pump. I may have to chg out the fuel line from the gas tank. I remounted the carb to ensure the seal is good, will check with the starter fluid to see if seal is good. Vac lines are endless potential for prob, will keep searching them.
I finally found the problem... after installing HEI and re-setting the timing several times. Turns out it was a bent float in the carb. I straitened the float and set the fuel pressure to 2.5 psi and the Jeep now goes faster (with no sputtering) than I need to go!
