The possibility of rebuilding a T-18 Transmission could be in my future and I was just pondering making a 1/4" plate to attach the PTO cover face to an engine stand. I don't see the need to invert it, well maybe that would be a quick way to retrieve the needle bearings that get away, but it could keep things flat and secure not to mention portable.

Too light? that is a pretty heavy Transmission even without the TC. Of course there isn't anything light about a V8 engine.:D

This works for me.........bolts to the two bottom bolts on the T-18 Transmission face.

Keeps it in the same position as if it was installed but flat on the bench so it doesn't get away......just about covers all of the dis-assembly and assembly......

:D:D:D:D

nice work Terry.

the last Transmission . I did was a T-176 , I did this with a piece of 1x6 pine and it was a great help. I will never again just let the thing flop around on the bench.

The engine stand big advantage , I guess, would be the wheels. I already own the stand too.:D

Gonna start on my T19 next week, and was thinking along with IO on the engine stand idea, but Tarry99's setup might be better. I like the idea of the Transmission on the bench the more I think about it ! :chug:

5-1 first gear :D At the moment, I plan to keep the 2:73's so it should work well on and off road.
