Can anyone tell me what these two connections are for on the T-15 Transmission cover? There was an electrical connection on one of them when I pulled the Transmission out but it didn't really lead anywhere.

One is more than likely a reverse light switch, the other no idea.

My T-4 has 2. Backup lamp switch & Fifth Reverse lever pivot bolt and lamp switch according to the according to the M R 252 shop manual. On yours I don't know

One is back up light switch.
The other is called Transmission controlled spark switch.
It's part of the emissions system for your year and model.

Curious what the function is of the second one ?

In a nutshell:
It cancels out the distributor vacuum advance when Transmission is shifted into high gear. This is accomplished thru an electric controlled vacuum switch which vacuum passes thru on it's way to the distributor vacuum advance.
This is the nutshell version.
