Teralow 20

Has anyone bought a Teraflex Teralow 20 kit lately? If so who has the best price on one right now? I would like to lower my crawl ratio with this kit and I was hoping someone found a great deal somewhere.

I would recommend the Lowmax 4.1 kit over the teralow. I had a good friend strip the gears in his teralow kit and read where others have as well. The tera gears are 2 piece where lomax is 1 piece (not saying this is the cause). I've seen plenty of teralow gears break and teeth ground down. The lowmax kit is less expensive as well.

I'm sure there will be some that have tera kits without issues, but I wouldn't recommend them.

I have installed a TerraLow kit for my Dana 20 . It cost me $837 and has worked out great. The gear ratio is 3.15 You can't get 4 to 1 gears for the Dana 20 . There just isn't room. To install 3.15 to 1 gears you still have to do some grinding but it's not a problem. Just grind a little at a time. (even the 4:1 gears for the Dana 300 need grinding)
The Dana 20 kits cost more than the Dana 300 's and I don't think the LoMax is available for the Dana 20 . If I am wrong, let me know.

Dave's correct the gearing would be 3.15 for the Dana 20 . The 300 would be 4.1.

And a Dana 300 with the tera 4.1 kit ( it came free in the box with a jeep purchase I made a couple years ago).

For about $650 less then the cost of the tera kit you could install D-18 gears in your Dana 20 case to make it a 2.46, just need the 33 tooth bronco sliding gear. I have one just not ready to sell it yet.

Posi...............Whats up with the Bronco gear? I have taken all the gears out of the Dana 18 2:46 and swap them into a Dana 20 case....with no problem!

I bought it Feb. 2010. The price surely has gone up since then. I kept records of the price, date, mileage and everything else but the place I bought it from. It was a smaller company on the internet. I'll keep looking and let you know if I find out.

I've read about the 2.46 swap and it is tempting due to price, but if I can find the teraflex reasonable"ish" I sure would like to get as low as possible without going into the axles and raising my highway RPM's.

Posi...............Whats up with the Bronco gear? I have taken all the gears out of the Dana 18 2:46 and swap them into a D-20 case....with no problem!

But in your case all you get is a stronger case without lowering your original gear ratio.
