I recently had to rebuild my CJ buggy TF 727 Transmission . It has a Dana 300 Transfer Case . I didn't realize how low the dust cover was and that it allowed water into the Transmission . so easily. I added a plug to the vent hole and placed a barbed hose connection on the outside of the bell housing of the Transmission . snorkeling it up to 5'. I should correct myself, my Transmission shop mechanic did it with a little hesitation and a "WTF". He said you want me to do what? Drill a hole in your Transmission ...
Anyways I was riding in the swamps of south florida yesterday, 3' of water easily. Worked great.
Now about my question? I want to add drain plugs in both front and rear diffs. since it will make changing fluid regularly for any water issues easier. Any problems that i might run into would be helpful. Oh yeah. I have an AMC20 solid rear axle with locked or possi traction unk. what kind of lockers. Front is Dana 30 . So far the stock gears are a little weak but that is ok because I run mostly water, mud, and palmetto heads. Less torque less chance of breaking something, so far...

The only problem I see is getting the drain low enough to get all the water out. Might be better to drill and tap the lowest spot in the pumpkin.
