Yeah that really does look good! Did you glue the metal strip to the door panels? I see the hole but no screws.

Here are the screws...... the pics are rather boring and uninteresting - but shows the attachment...... just #6 stainless pan heads...... and a little lock tite.

After getting the inner door panels fixed up, I realized I had not addressed the door handles. I bought these doors used, and one of the inner handles was bent up, and the other was scuffed and appeared to have paint on it.

Even had they been in good shape, I wasn't thrilled about the window scrubbing against the handle when the window was down. I decided I wanted braided 550 cord handles....... but couldn't figure out how to make them maintain their width and keep them from stretching....... So I cut the outer handle away from the steel liner.

Where the sharpie ink is I'll notch so the 550 cord will stay put under the cap.

The liner is held to the panel with screws, and the chrome end cap has a boss on the back side to keep the steel liner against the panel

The plan is to trim the boss down so the strap will center up between the panel and underside of the cap. I'll space the strap up with washers once the weave is complete. The inner strap will help the handle maintain cross sectional shape as well as provide nice, strong attachment points while treating reducing the scratching of the windows...... now to remember where I stashed my paracord....

Not "treating" - "Greatly"..... Greatly reducing...... Sometimes I hate autocorrect....

I bought some steel 1/2 doors about 18 months ago and overhauled them and painted them. I got new seals and clips for the door panels and put them back together. The door pulls were not in good condition so I ordered some and after installing found I didn't like them. They were pressing out into my legs. Took them off and have not used them since. I actually made some door limit stops out of parachute strap and if I end up needing door pulls I may use that. Don't need them 99 percent of the time anyway since I rarely use the windows on anyway

I hear ya - I just wanted something to fill where they were supposed to go.

Oh, yeah - the "paint booth"..... keeps the bugs and trash out, allows a breeze, and was free......

I love the view of the hills you have.......

The Blue Ridge Parkway runs right down the side of that hill...... am really anxious to run a red Jeep up and down that a few times....... in the Fall...... with the top down and the leaves falling.......

I also am digging the paint jig you have for your roll bar........

That's what happens when you're too cheap to use proper equipment. That cost me 10 bucks LOL.

If I live long enough to finish mine, and you get yours up and running, bring it down and we'll burn some file. Peaks of Otter are north of me, Mabrey Mill is south. If you never seen it before you'll like it. Next fall would be a great target date. The fall colors are very nice.

Just took this from my driveway - the Parkway is maybe 1000 yards away.

Time will tell when those leaves are at their color peak. Your vehicle, only you will know :)

HAHAHA - I misread your last post. I thought you meant you'd be close by...... I shouldn't try to read when I'm hungry LOL

I'll let you know when I drive it again, and maybe we can meet up along the way, maybe next year in the fall. Trying to fly out west in a couple of weeks to Oregon to visit family but as my sister said as she was fleeing was the state is on fire. Forest fires burning all over. That is complicating a couple of other trips I'm planning

I'm supposed to be ordering my axle shafts this week next fall could be possible and sweet

Next fall might give me time as well!!! Actually, if it's not on the road by next fall I'm selling it!!!

A parkway ride would be cool. There are cabins south of here for rent - just in case.... would be better than a hotel.

Well - in keeping with the ten foot rule, the tub is now red.

Found out by messing with the roll bar, a clay bar will remove small nibs, lint, etc without having to sand. Once the clay does its thing, hit it with a polishing pad and compound, and it puts a very nice finish on it.

Now, to find all the :dung: I've squirreled away the last couple years..... already know I can't find the grab bar for the dash.... [emoji35]
