Wow. making good progress. Even the little details like the door pulls you just did. I've seen videos of people making stuff with 550 cord on youtube. Very cool idea on the door pulls.

Well done!

You really did a great job! I think I see where you can earn your extra money. Let me know when you want to make your second set.

Stuck the door handles on the doors......

But couldn't deal with the chrome retainers...... scuffed em real good with 220 grit paper, degrease, and hit em with a matte black spray on, bake on teflon finish.

Hang em in the oven, heat to 350, and bake for 20 minutes

Once I get the connectors on the speaker wire, doors will be declared finished!!

It's good stuff - but I'm not sure how it's gonna do over scuffed chrome - not much of anything would stick to that, except maybe powder coating.

The finish is a bake on teflon/moly blend that was formulated for the firearm industry as an alternative to bluing and playing. Supposed to offer high adhesion and a certain amount of lubricity. I've had good luck with it on guns and gun parts so I thought I'd try it. IIRC, it comes in a couple colors..... It out gasses pretty bad as it cooks - I usually wait till the wife is at work to bake it, but these were small so I just waited till she went to bed LOL.

Ok - it appears it's not available in aerosol cans anymore - only in liquid form that must be thinned and sprayed on. No biggie. Comes in black, OD green, two shades of gray, brown, and coyote tan.

In preparation of setting the tub back down on the frame (blocked the rear up about 4 inches to paint under the tailgate) and get it bolted down, I reattached the fuel filler hose, vent hose, and hung and plumbed the fuel vent.

Only thing left before bolting her down is the fuel sending unit connection. Just realized it had the ground connection, but the positive lead is missing - will be making up that tonight. Then get it bolted down.

Then, to fix a screw up - was messing with the radiator, up on saw horses, and proceeded to knock it off in the driveway. Banged up the lower hose fitting.

I stared at it for a bit, and promptly decided to fix it later. Tonight was later. Needed to find something round and tapered to attempt to open it back to round. Thought well, I need a thinking beverage.....

Bout halfway thru, it hit me - finished the pop, scraped off the neck label

That's engineering right there....and I'm totally with you on the time spent fixing un-foreseen errors....lol

I'm totally loving your engineering you've got going on there... two thumbs up! :chug:

Forgot to add - those door pulls are awesome! Thanks for the idea... I'm warning you now that if I ever get to a reassembly stage with my pile of :dung: sitting in the garage, I'm going to make some of those too.

Have at it, sir - no worries here. I was gonna do two colors, but I already had the black and was to lazy / impatient to get the second color.......

Had a decently productive day - spent the first part in court (witness against the neighbor's meth head son), so the balance was a sanctioned day off work - aka Work on the Jeep day. Wanted to get the tub bolted down - first order of business was the clean up the rear portion of the wiring harness, get everything connected up, and secured the wire wrap under the tailgate. Once that was done, I got the tub bolted down. Wiggled it around till it was nice and centered - figured that way, the fenders and grill wouldn't even come close to fitting.

SURPRISE!!

They fit like a glove. I had bolted everything up before starting the painting process, and luckily, it went right back together!

I had already hit the inside of the grill with the same aerosol Berliner as the fenders and firewall

Now, earlier, when I first started pulling the alignment pins and replacing with body mount bolts, I needed my flashlight to verify the nut was still in position...... this is what I needed

defb2f6a1306e3adec32af0b3435e433.jpg

Rolled over on my side, saw the flashlight, grabbed it and spent at LEAST 30 seconds trying to figure out where the damned switch was........ this is what I grabbed:

Needless to say, never could get it to turn on....... batteries must have been dead LMAO

Hopefully the bedliner for the tub and ground distribution blocks will be here tomorrow.
