Got the final sanding done.....

And applied first finish coat - nice coat of boiled linseed oil rubbed in thoroughly... this coat will be rather dull and muddled. I'll apply one more coat of BLO, then start the final finish coats. They will be more clear and crisp. Progress just slowed to a crawl till the BLO dries enough for the top coats.

Got to thinkin it would be interesting to snag a couple used CJ steering wheels off ebay and convert em to wood and see if I could get any bites...... Have you seen what the few out there go for?? Think I'll pass.......

I can't say I have looked at how much one would be. I have looked at the new Grants but that is as far as I got. Just figured a good used one would be expensive. I have a low end one so I doubt you could even work with it. A hard plastic all the way around. I wish when I had bought brand new off the truck I could had upgraded some it was what it is.

Yeah, I wouldn’t use a softwood. Walnut, mahogany, etc
