Build Thread The '80 FrankenJeep frame off reassembly

Never heard anything that sounded abnormal....... but man, it did a number on the pump. End of the cam looks good, as do the timing gears and chain.

I’m gonna chalk this up to a good dose of idiocy applied to the reassembly. I must not have torqued that bolt properly. But you can bet it will be this time.......

I’ll be hanging that cover in the garage to remind me not to do stupid .....

It was slipping real bad and I had a high horsepower small block Dodge in front of it and I figured why not lol I had to replace it anyways lol

I work at a place where about 20-25 years ago a plaque was installed on the wall as a memory of a 1.2 million dollar mistake by an engineer and his boss for approving a go ahead error. That was on the wall for almost 15 years as a reminder. They weren't around to see it

Alrighty - ordered the gaskets to do the reassembly, gotta pick the up tomorrow. I’ll pick up a new water pump while I’m there. The new, rather used replacement timing cover arrived this morning. It’s actually in better shape than the one I had - so that’s a plus!! Got it cleaned up and painted

I was a little concerned about that - but mine had more scoring than this on by a good bit. And since I’m using a stainless plate between the pump and filter adapter, that part won’t be an issue......

I agree! And we are hoping things go together well with no further problems. We're all rooting for you! I have some cousins in the Roanoke Salem area. If I get down there I am going to try and see this jeep in person.

Got the new water pump today - showed up while I was out..... gotta love fresh AMC Blue...

I have the oil pump reassembled and packed with baseline, bottom of the block is clean and ready to go, so serious reassembly begins Sat. My neighbor and I wat finishing up a new deck for another neighbor..... paying jobs come first !!

At least I have everything I need to get it running again - now to find the time. The wife actually told me to just take next week and work on it before I start my new job [emoji15][emoji15]. I think she has a bottle hidden around here someplace......

We have a gun show here next weekend..... I have a prewar German double rifle I’ve considered selling on occasion....... That would completely fund the rest of the build........ And then some. Hmmmmm....

We are putting the boat up for sale because of Noah’s surgery and I am wanting to sell the truck once I get the Jeep driving hopefully will be able to finish the Jeep with the truck money

No sir - those are typically Drillings. This one looks and operates like a side by side shotgun, only in rifle caliber.....
