Hey so I was wondering if any of you out there could help me on some information about putting in a 4 or 5 speed manual Transmission on my 73' CJ5 . I was wondering if this would be a plausible idea? also if it is what would be recomonded for Transfer Case , if to change also? This would be a daily driver but i would also like to make it as bullet proof as posible. I am also lookimg to put Dana 60's on the front and rear. These are just ideas so any recomendations would be greatly apreciated:)

I would get a Jeep T-18 four speed Transmission . There are 2 versions. You can either get a 4.02:1 first gear or a granny low first (6.32:1). These are bullet proof. They were used in CJs from '72 to '79. These would be a simple bolt on. They were also used in other Jeeps from '66 to '84. If you find one that did not come from a CJ make sure it was mated to a Dana 20 TCase. You also want to avoid the long input shaft.
Notice how this Jeep T-18 has a factory adapter behind the bellhousing. If you end up with one of these you will need to swap out the input shaft.

As I said, finding a T-18 from a CJ will be the easiest swap.
