'79 CJ-7.....AMC 360, sm465, Rockwell T221, 14 bolt rear locked, Dana 60 front open, full width, 4.10 gear, 38.5-14.5-15 TSL SX tires, cj 4" springs, fiberglass tub, one-piece fiberglass hood/fenders, a bunch of diamond plate aluminum and some autometer gauges.
Ok here's the skinny. I have a79 CJ7 , amc 360, sm465 Transmission , Rockwell t221 tcase. 14b rear, dodge pass drop d60 front. CJ4 " lift springs. I want to change to a np205. However, the front drive shaft is going to have to be longer, and the rear shorter. This is also going to kill my rear driveline angle. Are there any springs I can switch to that will remedy this? Should I just change the pinion angle? I think the only real fix is moving the rear axle back, but not sure how to.

just move your rearend spring mounts back on the front hangers and extend the frame so you can move the rear hangers..here is mine..it is moved back 14 inches..I'm running a 350/350/208 to a 14 bolt..rear driveshaft is 24 inches center to center on the joints..

I would use a Dana 300 case it's a lot shorter. But if your stuck on the 205 you might be able to swap to xj or waggie (can't remember which) springs they are off set 2" from center. The problem might come with the gas tank hitting the rear axle. You will need a double cardan style driveshaft, with the rear yoke turned up toward the t/c.
See Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts - Tom Woods Custom Drive Shafts Custom Driveshafts Specialist for the correct angle to set the rear at.

Thanks guys. I'll do some reading as I think you are right Old Dog. I don't want to extend the frame. Appreciate your input:chug: howevere I highly doubt the axle will hit the tank. I've got some room in there:D20130706_134414.webp here's what I'm working with.

Perfect thanks!!
