I have a 77cj5 coming soon. When I looked at it the Transfer Case only had one lever. I assume it is a Dana 300 being a single stick. Would this be possible from the factory? I thought it would be a Dana twin stick.

When I looked at the jeep data base on transfer cases I did not realize the twin stick was a Dana 20 add on thanks for clearing that up.

Yeah your right we should probably change that pic to avoid confusion. Its in the text that its an add on but I like to read pictures too. :D

While the Dana 20 single stick is okay it is prone to being a bit sloppy requiring more lever movement than is comfortable. For instance mine, for 4wh high required a long throw forward with occasional barked knuckles and for 4wd low a long pull back, with an occasional smashed finger. Switching to a double stick makes for nice short stick movement and the added ability to have 2wd low. The price of a double stick upgrade is very reasonable and a fairly easy task.

But the Dana 20 is a good strong case with either single or double sticks. It may not be a low geared rock crawler but not all of us need that either. :chug:

Reading what's that, I really should study and not just picture read the older I get the more I glance over things like this lol. Yeah this jeep will see the road but I agree some of us are not rock crawlers. I do believe the 20 will be just fine. The jeep is one of the nicest frame off I have seen. The old timer We got it off owned a powder coating company. He lived old time jeeps. He bought it of his buddies wife and left it in a barn for 30 years then did a frame off. Still need to do a few touches but this is the dream jeep I wanted when I was a punk but had no cash. Evening drives and Sunday brunch runs. Yes a garage queen but I waited 50 years for this. So forgive me if I don't mud it up. Pics to follow. :chug:

Dont get me wrong about the Dana 20 . Its a good strong Transfer Case . I just dont think its geared low enough for off road especially behind the T-150 3 spd. For what you describe your using this Jeep for its a non issue. As for it not seeing mud no big deal , keep the CJ5 for that. :D

Spot on Pete! :chug:
