use 4.0L parts on a 4.2L

I'm offered a 4.0L engine and AX15 Transmission as package deal only. I really only wanted replace my wore out T-5 Transmission for the AX15 and buy the conversion kits from Novac.

Can I use parts from the engine to upgrade my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , such as the head is an upgrade I've been reading about. Distributor? Fuel injection? Yes/no? Anything else?

I think the best swap is putting a 4.0 in a CJ. This is what I have planned for mine I have had three Cherokees and love the 4.0. I saw a CJ7 today with a 4.0 and I was :drool: all over it.

I have figured out I need to make the 4.0 head swap on my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . In the meantime, I can use the 4.0 block to build a stroker motor as a later date project.

Remember to get the computer & complete wiring harness if you're thinking of swapping in the EFI.

My 7 has a 4.0 and aw4 from a Cherokee and let me tell you it's a beautiful thing when it starts right up when it 20 degrees out and never floods out in off camber situations.

Well after digging through this site, I found what I was looking for. This site describes low budget, medium budget, and no budget 250, 275, 200 hp gains respectively.
