I am not as pure as most on here.
If you want a sbc then put one in if you dont then dont. All listed motors are great, the sbc, you can get parts anywhere anytime.
I have a 350 in my 86 CJ7 , it came to me that way, that is part of the reason I bought it. Power wise, stock there all pretty close if you compair apples to apples.
So true. To maintain an engine you replace what's broke. That's almost always the peripherals: starter, alternator, PS pump. Even if you could get Chevy parts for free how many years would it take to justify the cost of the adapters, wire harness and time needed to make a Chevy work in a jeep?Yeah...but how many times are you going to break into an engine to replace parts. The $2000 I spent on my 401 for a total rebuild will last me for years.
