3:73 or 3:91 I don't remember for sure and yes you can use the same carrier.

you might get lucky and find a used set of thick gears, or a spacer.

Stock '91 MJ 4.0/2wd parts runner
Carriers are usually pretty cheap. But yeah, 3.54 (3.55) and down use one carrier and 3.73 and up use another. Yes, a rear carrier will work in the front. No difference.
