What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Well over a few rums tonight i figured out that my AC system while missing the underdash parts might come in useful as something else. So off to ebay and ordered this

Air Tank 3 Gallon-12 liter made in USA air ride, load assist air,bag suspension | eBay

Started the conversion to on-board air with a custom "air cooler" using the orginal condensor, plumbed in a Rocker cover air filter to one of the lines for the intake, found a 120/150psi switch to allow the compressor to automaticly switch on and off to keep the tank full. I should be able to put a air line on the back and front bumper for the times i need to pump up the tyres and if i ever get lockers i have the air supply sorted. MUCH less work than removing the system. Finding a underdash AC unit in AU would be impossible.

Ill need to make a few minor mods to the AC compressor when the air tank arrives but the AC line will bolt straight up!!

The fed-ex guy just droped of a set of RE extreme duty front springs
that I need for my Dana 44 front axle swap. I think I have everything I need
to buy now. I still have some steering things that need fabed though.
Hopeing these will work out ok, and the project can get started before spring.

FexEx just dropped of the complete bushing set and necessary parts for getting rid of the hose clamp on the shifter of the Transmission :)

My daughter is chomping at the bit to work on the Jeep so it appears I have help lined up already:D, will probably have to take a break for a tea party, but I don't mind a bit!

Picked up new seats ($75) and rear bumper. Found '73 axle assemblies with 3.73 gearing to replace my 4.27s. (Building a Boulevard Jeep--particularly when the boulevard is under a foot of snow.) Gotta love craigslist.

What did I do with my CJ today??? Hmm, well I drove it to a local muffler shop where for $700+ dollars, they did the filthy job of tearing out the old perforated tailpipes and mufflers and gave me new pretty non-perforated Flowmasters. Sure sounds different. :)

for today ... new brake master cylinder, EGR and new valves!

What have I been doing for the last two months?

Bolt on sport cage extension. Main purpose is to help hoist my tired old back side into the seat but I suspect it will handle a grt off at least as well as the one in my daughters Con.

bolts to the dash mounts.:D

and bolts to the existing bar.

still a work in progress but a few more welds and a bit of paint, and it's on to the next thing.:chug:

Most of the bends were made by a member who I shall not name lest he should find him self with too many friends and not enough beer. My appreciation.:beer:

today fresh gear oil in the tranny and transfer for Eugene.
Made the discovery skidplate was replaced and new one doesn't fit properly.

Today was the first FULL day of having her, so I burned some fuel just getting to know her. It is going to be an interesting trip, but I am looking forward to it. Oh, I did PB Blast the door handles and spare tire arm. They were a bit....ummm....tired. You can shut the passenger door now though.
This week will involve cleaning out the garage and seeing if she will fit. Fun!

Good Job

cool decals! :)
whered you get them?

Thanks , I got the on ebay.

Removed the CJ5 windshield by breaking off one screw, drilling out two, and unscrewing the rest. After this I discovered that the hinges are two-piece, and that I could have simply slipped off the windshield after tilting it forward a bit.

I hope this is not a harbinger of how this entire project is gonna go.

Took the top and doors off, tailgate off, started a plan of attack. Had some metal bent up to replace some of the rot.

Found a donor.

I can use the extra set of stock wheels, front springs, steering shaft, but mostly the VIN plate and legitimate title. Of course, I'm gonna end up with two extra sets of axles, an extra engine, tranny and Transfer Case , and an extra frame. I think there's even a hood included in the deal. (And all this in a neighborhood where the local busybody raised a ruckus when I brought home a second-hand camp trailer a couple years ago. Heehee.)

Frame is ready for the sand blaster. All of the stuff off including another 5 pounds of grease laden dirt! Just need to get some fab work done including the repair of the frame crack discovered when turning the frame over:(.

I will get some pics and update the build thread after my procrastinator accociation meeting. Those meetings are always tomorrow.......:D

Today I changed the oil. Put new door straps on so I'd stop hitting the mirrors. A friend helped straighten out the front tires. .. Does not "walk" hardly at all now. Adjusted the carb. Lost a valve cover bolt...got a few new ones and tightened down the others. Took the doors off and went for a ride. It has been a great day!
