What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Walked by jeep. Kicked it. Went to work. Power steering lines and starting reassemble tonight

Woke it up from it's long winter's sleep.
changed the oil and checked the fluid levels in everything else.
It fired right up so I guess it's ready to go wheel'n at the end of the month.
The weather is staring to break. it was in the 70's today and should stay nice for awhile. That's what the weather man says anyway.
I'm still hoping to get the front 44 put in before the trail ride coming up.

Got the windshield hinges, mirror frames, and door hinge holders sand blasted and painted.
Got a little work done that they pay me for too. Double bonus!:chug:

actually I'm a few days behind. But told the doors off monday evening and wife and I drove to town for ice cream. Next day had to take dog to toen for swollen face (bad tooth) with doors still off. She was ok except when I got on the interstate and was passing tractor trailers. Then we went out driving fences row that evening. She's hooked, even when I was cutting ruts and got it a little sideways.
She does think I need to add a front roll cage and four point harness.
I hate when I have to spend money on the jeep, but wifes orders. :D

Blew heater hose and did minor rewiring

Whos hooked the wife or the dog or both.:driving:

My dogs doesn't care what I drive as long as she's with me. The dog we took to the vet doen't ride much as she gets car sick.
Yes the wife is hooked and she oked the bikini top for this summer.

That's always a good thing.:chug: If my wife didn't like to go trail riding mine would probably still be a pile of rusting junk.:D

yep. funny part is; when dad and i got it, it was supposed to be used around the fields because of his COPD. It seems to have morphed into something more.
In fact he just ordered 20 ft stick of 2x4x 3/16 box tubing to build the new rear bumper with hitch and swing out tire carrier.

so i've been looking for motors, trannys and tc's. and so im on craigslist (this might be a bit long but worth it) and looking around for stuff, and i come across a motor/tranny for sale. 2000 chevy 350 with a nv4500, well i want the tranny, not the motor so i ask him about separating the two, so i email him. no response, and the next day i see it again, so i noticed its only a couple miles from my house. so after work yesterday i went by to take a look. i asked about the motor and tranny he had listed on craigslist, he said yea back here, i asked what he would take for the tranny it self and he said 400, then asked why don't you want the motor, i said i'm doing a carbed 350, he perked up and said i got something for you. (see pic 1)

he has a 1985 CJ5 project. a client wanted an offroad thing, and the guy took a 1979 chevy suburban and put a CJ5 body on it, but half way through the client called and said that he was too fat and tall to fit, being 6"6" 350 wasn't a clue? anyway so here it sits.

now ready for the good part.

it has a 1979 350, with a sm465, and np 205 with full size chevy axles and 6 lug rims. hood and front grill and fenders. this is great cuz i need the full drive train assembly, plus front fenders and hood, and a set of rims.
so after hearing all this he says you can have it for 800$ i thought he was talking about the motor/tran/tc

nope, it was the entire thing.:eek::eek::eek::eek::D:D:D:D:D:D:notworthy:

so now im struggling to get 800 put together to get this beast and swap everything out, so in the future i may have an 85 body to get rid of and frame/axles.

i know your asking how does this apply to "what did you do to your cj today?" well let me answer

i found my motor asssembly

Y'know, it seems that if you hobnob with enough of these Jeep guys, you run across great deals from time to time. Way to go!

Took the cj out for a liitle spin. First start up since October. Found a few issues , gas gauge dosent work , tach dosent work , besides that all is good. Tested out the FWD...all is good. It was a long winter.
