What did you do to or with your CJ today?
I'm so sorry, my stomach is still queezy from opening the picture of the totally civilized dash you intend on retrofitting to your totally man Jeep. Save your children man, rethink, dashes like that are a dime a dozen. I wouldn't even consider putting the CJ type plastic dash anywhere's near mine. :) to each his own.

Did you intend on doing the "roll it black, then wiping it off" right from the beginning? Or did the roller job come out horribly and you tried saving yourself just to find a paint job you really liked? Talk about thinking outside the box, I like it and likely will steal the idea.

Tail lights are different, cool but different. Headlights look better IMO . Actually those have a Terminator look to them.. Paint is a genius idea . The dash, well I do have a dash of vertigo now myself....

Lol! That's good stuff! None of my gauges work. The radio is toast. The steering wheel is done. The original dash is all cracked. The metal dash is rusted. The glove box is gone. I added all that up, it's much more to replace than the $350 I spent on the complete dash with steering wheel, radio, everything. Wait till i paint it up, guys I had to do it!!! Rat rod jeep? This is my third CJ7 and after owning a h1 and a military humvee, hot rod stuff; this is my get my son off the video game/ computer idea? The paint idea came from my faux finishing as a interior designer. This jeep, my son, coors light and a mouth full of tobacco is the only manhood I have left? It gives me something to do besides mow the yard?

Oh by the way here is the leather interior seats I got from an Audi A4. Notice the storage drawers under the front seats? Should store some stuff along with the 2010 JK glove box. Please don't up chuck till you see the finished product. As soon as roll on some Monstaliner in the tub and get put back together I will post pics of the entire build. Only thing left is the AMC 401, kinda hard to find that motor these days?

Theres two things you most definitely have, motivation and creativity . If it gets the boy involved, full steam ahead! You should start a build thread or have I missed something?

So today I managed to get a lot done. Finished up all most everything in the engine bay, sand blasted and painted exhaust manifolds, p/s brackets and pump, air compressor and brackets, mounted all components except air compressor. Mounted fenders. Cut off C-channel front bumper. Modified an fitted new smittybuilt xrc front bumper to mount tomorrow.

Still haven't figured out how to post more than one pic at a time. Think it's an iPad thing, but here's the second pic

Looking nice! Let us know how the seats go in and how much fabricating has to be done. I purchased bestop recliners off Ebay, but those are sweet with the under storage.

Today the Jeep is finally fully registered and street legal. Funny story, as you know this jeep is new to me, at least as far as "on the road" quirks are concerned. When going for the emissions/inspection I passed a gas station, but had just shy of 1/4 tank and figured it would be okay.

The inspection couldn't have gone better. While waiting a '78 CJ5 sat next to me and we had a good talk while waiting. Better yet the Jeep passed with flying colors. Less than 1/4 mile later I was sitting in a parking lot out of gas. Note to self, don't trust the gas gauge when its near 1/4 tank.

Finally finished my lift after weeks of cutting off bolts.

2.5" ProComp springs
Bilstein shocks
.5" shackle lift front
1" body lift

Anti sway bar to go in this week....and it needs it

We need pics. Guessing the 1/2" up front leveled things out

Sure thing, ill take some in the morning. Yeah, they were to level it out. I did that to my JK and loved the stance so decided to continue it to my CJ.

Got to say I'm really happy with it. First full suspension swap/upgrade I've done myself on any of my Jeeps and other than the swearing, bleeding, bruising, and one time nearly dying I'm really happy with the experience/outcome.

Good deal, hopefully I can pull the swap out too when that bridge comes my way. Mine nose dives! Did you use heavy or soft springs?

Put a new Bikini top on today. I don't know what there is about that simple piece of vinyl coated canvas, but I sure like driving a Jeep with one on. They seem to offer far more protection than they should.

After installing the top I took her for a drive. It's taken about a week to get used to the body roll and the torque steer. But I do believe I'm beginning to fall in love with the quirky, over powered beast. One thing that tamed the ride down some was removing some air from the tires. ~25lbs seems about right.

:agree:I run 20 in my Kumho m/t and yes it dose improve the ride a lot.

Got the engine block and heads back from the mechanist last Friday.:) Almost have it back together. Snow storm or not, its going back into the jeep Friday. Heading to Moab on the 14th got to get her running again! :D

Almost.

I'll help.

Nice.
Great color!
