Wired up the tachometer.

Been rebuilding my AMC 304

engine_on_stand.jpg

and finely got it back in the Jeep

HAPPY DAY!!!!:):):):):)

Also found 9/16 socket that I dropped down the header while pulling the engine. It was behind the Jeep near the tail pipe:confused:

I like the blue. When working on my 360 I wanted to paint some things blue, but found so many different blues on my old AMC 304 I settled on "Old Ford Blue". A blue quite similar to yours. It's easy to tell what I've worked on, it's painted blue.

But my my, beautiful blue engine and a Catapiller yellow power steering unit and yellow wires? Then I scratch my heas on the double power steering pulleys. You must be using the AC pulleys to power the pump. Not a bad idea. It sorta hides the fact that your missing the air pump the pulley on the power steering pump is supposed to drive. I like it.

The can said "old ford blue" but, I found that every brand had their own shad. I liked this one the best. Ya, the pump needs to change color now. Caterpillar paint is tough, oil resistance and it was handy and I like the look of it on the Dana 300 . That's for another day when it warms up around here. as for the pulley, The belt keep slipping when the front locker was engaged. I saw that pulley on a Chevy suburban and it solved that problem.

:) so yours is "Old Ford Blue" too. You are right even with such a distinctive name the color does vary some. Some of my parts are painted with slightly different OFB paint. I do think that once it gets hot a few times the color becomes the same. Today all the paint looks the same to me.

I've got a small slipping problem with my power steering pump as well. It's not a BIG deal but being someone who considers himself an aceptable mechanic the occasional chirp bothers my pride. Unfortunately my Jeep still has the AC pump and air pump, (eventually for on board air) so all my pulleys are otherwise occupied. I did learn something though, until now I did not know that Chevy used a double pulley system on some power steering pumps. Another possible place to find one in the future.

Look'n good man.:chug:

I had to use a double belt with my front locker also.

Mounted and wired my new 9000 pound Badlands winch.

I went by Napa to pick up two self adjust brake rebuild kits & saw they carry "classic" style windshield wipers so I got 2 for the CJ5 . They slipped right on & work great!

What did I do with my CJ today? Well of course I went for a little ride.

Jim and I headed out to Silverbell, Arizona. Silverbell was a mining town that was swallowed up by the mine.

Here we are at the Silverbell mine with Jims sweet '69. What says Arizona like a mine, a wind mill, and a couple Jeeps that ain't trailer queens

Being a Jeep sorta guy I couldn't help but go up this hill....

The old Girl hardly slipped tire, the naturally we had to come back down again.

Hey Mr. Camera man troubles heading your way.

Finally got a chance to play in the snow… sort of. Kids went out on atv's and soon after called with spark failure. We loaded up and hit the property line road, fixed the atv and figured since we got in the woods we should start a fire. Oh, my better half adjusted the drivers mirror using a small oak tree!

Sprayed some Monstaliner in in the bed. Used a media blasting gun, pretty easy.
