What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Cleaned muddy paw prints of my passenger seat and console. Love my little pup. :D

:chug:

just one of the things you do when you are owned by a dog.:D

took the old soft top apart and painted the bars black, then attempted to install said bars onto new soft top ( crazy tight fit i only got one in.)

I received my rear seat brackets, opened the box and found a rear sway bar. so i gotta send that back.

got my tire mounting bracket im going to install this weekend

going to be picking up a CB radio tomorrow

over this last week ive ordered and received several POW MIA products to scatter around my jeep.

hopefully this weekend ill get the seats sent in to reupholstered

and while the seats are out im going to rhino line the interior.

and to top it all off im sending my gauges in to be restored and customized!! so hopefully with in the next two weeks everything will be done and i can move onto the next list i have ready for her!

Letting my daughter drive the jeep around and she wanted to flex a little

Hmmmm what's under the blanket? Coil springs? ohhh my.

In preparation for a gear change I finished pulling the guts out of a disk brake Dana 30 . Watched a couple videos on changing gears and scared myself to death. Looks like a dial indicator is in my future.

Whats left of asphalt its maybe 2ftb2ft pile and those are rugs.for the garag. it got a lot of ice in it this year so i had to pull them out to dry. and yes coils on front.is there somethign wrong with that?

This could easily get into the "What's a CJ" in a hurry and I don't want to go there. I'm sure the articulation you are getting with your jeep is far greater than I will ever have with my stock set-up. Your jeep might handle better on the road as well. Can't blame you for improving on an old design.

Took my carb off so I can do the rebuild. It'd be nice to take the intake off and put on a new set of non rusted headers but I don't think I'm ready for that.

Did you know that Busa Dave has trained his CJ5 to run in front of cameras every time some one is taking a breath taking shot of a mountain side and put one wheel up on a rock. and it does it all by itself, you never see any pictures of the jeep with him in it!

IO - Already have a well used micrometer and not so well used inch pound torque wrench. Both have seen a bunch of rifle and reloading use. The dial indicator would be new and probably see little use, but when you need one nothing else will doo. :)

don't forget the mag base. checking pre load on a gear set is the only thing I have ever used an inch pound torque wrench for. It was kind of hard to even find a decent one. :D

Replaced the calipers, pads and both front brake lines. Now on to the passenger floor. Many holes, need to take the seat out and see just how bad it really is.

You can always use the dial indicator and a V block to check bullet run out.

While discussing dial indicators and bullet run out with Rob (really we actually did talk about bullet run out) my Jeep guy I dropped another $AMC 150 on front axle universal joints, new brake dust covers (center rust), new axle oil slingers (all over rust) and some seals.

It seems like I'm always replacing universal joints and working way to hard while doing it. One of the u-joints is removed. I finally gave up on beating the old joint and grabbed up the angle grinder with metal blade and cut the old X out the with the help of some heat beat the bearing caps out. Even then the bearing caps were stubborn. The other one will be done tomorrow along with the new install.

I've come to the same point lately in my tear down. Had very little luck unbolting the exhaust system, put away the wrenches and got out the recip saw - job done. Same result on brake lines. Couldn't get a single brake line to let go, put away the wrenches and got out the grinder - job done. Replacing all of that stuff anyway. :D

I have found that a bit of close encounter with a heat gun does wonders for brake fittings.:D

Got a double whammy on from the Laredo today. Overheated at 2 am on my way to work and had to have the supervisor come get me. Stopped after work and filled the radiator. On the way home the steering was all crazy. Had Vicki cycle the wheel while I watched the steering box flex all over the place. Thats just loose. I havent deciphered the overheating but think it may be the water pump. Ive been working 3-3 all week so shes gonna have to sit till Saturday. I just dont have the energy for it right now. :(
