What did you do to or with your CJ today?
It's all a mater of perspective.
The way I look at it, the Overdrive the Overdrive slows down the engine.

So, while I might very well be "halffast' I'd rather be more slow.

:)

Just about ready to fill the radiator and crank her after a cleanout and alternator reposition, when I notice a screw lying on the intake manifold right under the new carb I just got. Yanked the carb, pulled the OTHER three screws from the power valve cover (all just finger-tight) and reinstalled them with Loktite. Went over the whole setup again, not to miss anything this time. Tomorrow I'll fire her up and test my work.

After spending the last year bringing my '75 from a warn out pile of junk to a very respectable CJ I crawled back under it with a pile of tools. The goal was to check as many bolts as I could to make sure everything was tight after a couple months of driving. All in all it was a success. Most were good, a few needed snugging up and a couple were down right loose.

There was one crack in a fish plate that is now welded up.

One of my front wheel bearings needed adjustment, so it was. While at it I noticed the U-bolts weren't as tight as I liked so they were tightened up.

When I registered it the timing was brought back to ~4D, so it was adjusted to ~12D.

My steering shaft was rubbing a header pipe. The pipe was heated and dented for clearance when I first got the Jeep, but it needed more and I wasn't going to dent the pipe any more than it was already done. I ended up cutting the plate that holds the steering shaft in place and set it to the left about 3/8". Worked great! I was worried about how the steering wheel would feel. After driving it for about an hour I never noticed the slight offset. All is well and I'm happy with the fix.

While working on the front fender last summer I placed a fender brace a little low and inside allowing the fender to flex too much so another brace was fit and the fender is now under control.

Few of the jobs were difficult, mostly a little refinement here and there, but I'm glad they are now done.

Made a Jeep hauler for it out of an old boat trailer

Some paint and a few lights then I'll be good to go.

:( it breaks my heart to see a Jeep up on a trailer like that. I see'em going into my local Jeep Guys place like that and they never come back out...... Sure a bunch of other Jeeps are kept on the road with the sacrifice of a few .......

New seat cushions and covers for the back seat.
Double date, woo hoo!

I get the same mileage from my V8 Tundra pulling the jeep on the trailer running A/C as I would get if I just drove the Jeep.

that must have been a heck of a boat!

Out of storage and playing in one of the last snowbanks:banana::banana::banana:

Let not your heart be troubled. The trailer is only for looong hauls. Between the rough ride, loud glass packs and the road nosy from the tires the wife won't travel very far with me in the Jeep. That could be a good thing.;) I didn't say that!! She likes a smooth ride and listening to the radio or talking as we travel. Also, I don't know if I could get all her luggage in the CJ5 .

Wow it must be a back seat thing this week. Bought a original Laredo black and silver today.

Can't wait to see the dash!!!

its not going to be anything fancy just powercoated diamond plate and the speaker cut outs will be removed, and the two holes for the pressure and temp wont be side by side but in a vertical row of three with a clock on top and the temp in the middle and the pressure on the bottom!

also there will be a cut out for a CB radio and up under there will be a bracket that will hold two cigerette lighter power plugs and one plug like whats in the wall.. but like i said it will be under the dash so you cant see it but can charge your phone or what not while out and about camping or what have you

Finally got around to installing the Dana 20 twin stick kit I got from JB Fab (last fall.)
Wow! what a difference from the sloppy old stock shifter. :)

It was cold and windy with rain, we drove about 60 miles and I loved every minute of it. There were some firsts. The first time I've used the windshield wipers and used the heater. With only a bikini top on it wasn't warm, but my feet were happy.
