What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Replaced the steering gear box. It had developed a loud pop noise when turned from side to side. It was a used actuator that I had bought for the J-10, it was original to the truck I took it from. Just a little anoyed with me for not using a rebuilt one to begin with. These things are a bit pricy and the core charge is the same as the cost. Made damned sure I took the core back.

Handles better, I think the last one was well worn in. worked a bit too well and had no road feel at all, very easy to over react and over steer. This new/rebuilt one has a lot more road feel with good but not too good power advantage.

suggest you put the hoses on the gear box and tighten them and thread them up through to the pump. Maybe with the radiator out you could install and tighten the hose to gearbox fittings. there is just no place to put a line wrench.

I am still considering a brace for the steering box but have not felt love for any I have seen in a vendor catalog.

I guess I don't understand the question. what is "the one I used"?

Took it out and got stuck ON FLAT GROUND, No blame the driver or the Jeep. Came around a corner and hit flour sand. Thats what I call it there must be a name for it the stuff is super dry and will not support weight like a tire, kind of like quick sand with no water. A little tire spin and instantly the Jeep sunk to the frame Just that fast. Pictures and story in Outdoor Related

Well, I had a new oil sending unit put on. Walked out of Big Lots to find a massive puddle under Pearl. Booked it 2 blocks down to Thomasville Tire Dept. & Mike hooked me up. 20 mins. & $29. later I'm on my merry way. Good thing it happened too. My battery got knocked loose from my visit to Lorraine's on Monday. It was hanging & about to fall through to the pavement! Was headed to the Shooting Range next. Would've been S.O.L. in the middle of nowhere... ^2

Converting to an aluminum valve cover. Just finished tapping the holes but need shorter bolts (didn't want to drill)

Drove it!! Drove it to work fri. with no incident. Drove to my brothers place. about 100 round trip. Ignition dies on highway, found a bad connection it a weather tite plug on the MSD box, back on the road. got an inspection sticker, no problem there. came home in the rain and my wipers quit about half way home just in time for it to stop raining. Saw a double rainbow, thought that was pretty cool but all of a sudden one of them got so bright it looked like it was painted on the sky. All this with out the aid of drugs. It was a good day.:D

Drove a friend - of 26 years - to an indoor shooting range where she fired her first round of her life. Her boyfriend has several firearms in the house and she knew nothing about them. He's wiring boats in Alaska for the next six weeks or so.

Using my Glock 19, she learned muzzle control, proper stance, proper grip/thumb placement, putting a single round in the magazine, seating it racking the slide and she put several rounds through paper.

I drove her home, left her with a hard, plastic training/inert pistol so she could practice picking up a pistol w/her finger indexed.

The Jeep behaved nicely on this auspicious occasion and she said she enjoyed riding in it.

Installed a 2$ cup holder next to my sons car seat. Then drove around aimlessly. Went to quicktrip, got slurpees, tested the cup holder and drive around more. Saw big clouds out your way IO.

Sounds like a great day with the family and Jeep. This is what life is all about.

Yup. I needed a drip pan for the brisket I smoked today. Gave an excuse for the family to pile in and head to the dollar store. Then lunch. Then a stop at the grandparents. Then home.

Figured out that I need new rollover vents in my fuel tank... Mounted my rear view mirror to the windshield frame (stupid glue wouldn't work) if it ain't one thing, it's another...
