What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Over the past few days I installed one piece chromo axle shafts, riddler diff covers, replaced the leaking tranny pan and replaced the leaking plastic valve cover with an aluminum one.

Nice

got in the new work stop for the milling machine to hopefully make set up for shackle making easier. It should make the hole location consistent.

Dropped in the 4.0.

actually this is a culmination of the past week. Got the new 6" 100 watt driving spots mounted, new H4 headlights installed, got new swing bumper tacked together and ready to finishing welding, started rebuilding rear suspension with new urethane bushings and spring hangers Finally got all my new shackles drilled and are ready to have braces welded in. So not too shabby of a past week.
:chug:

today i pulled my tranny back out of the 5 for the second time this week!:censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:

i have a chevy 350 in my 5 and the stock tranny. made it fun when my clutch started slipping. i had to determine that the pressure plate is a chevy 12 in and the throw out bearing is the first amc part. so now i have an extra chevy bearing from the kit if some one needs one. but any how, got the clutch all changed out and the tranny back in. fired it up to test drive and.... ...... bang, bang, bang, bang! take it all back apart to find that the manufacturer now makes the pressure plates just a little thicker than they used to. normally a good thing. not in my case. it made it hit on the bell housing. had to grind it out just a little bit and am re-assembling again. got most of it back in. tomorrow i get to finish it all up again and try the test drive out once more. i'm really starting to regret buying a jeep that has several manufacturer components on it.

sorry about the vent just had to get it off my chest.

Once you get it going you'll forget all about these troubles.

yeah flinging mud is always kind of therapeutic. just doesn't help that we went from freezing and snow last weekend when i did this the first time. to 60's and sunny when i thought i was done and anticipating taking the top off and driving around town for the first time of the year. instead i had to tear it back down. and now it's supposed to be rainy all weekend this weekend.:(

See you're in De Soto. I miss heading down to Mark Twain National Forest. Great times in my XJ. Council Bluff Lake is one of my favorites.

ironically i used to live in el paso. used to love flooring it all over the desert and the mountains down there. apparently today i get to change the distributer. evidently one of the times i dropped the tranny i let the back of the motor come down to far and i bent the housing. thus throwing it out of whack. which has the rotor trying to go through the side of the the dist cap.

got the new poly bushings and shackles i built installed in the rear. 1/2" of lift. Only to find out the rear shocks are too short and one is bent. At least it's back down on it's own wheels again. Now on to the front. :chug:

Drained the coolant from the radiator in anticipation of attempting to fix a crack in my block. Also pulled all the hoses off the radiator and pulled it so it can go to a shop.

Put the last coat of paint on the intake and exhaust manifolds and removed the surface rust from my air cleaner.

Busy day.

Looked at it and thought, soon girl, soon the snow will stop and we'll be cruising with the top down. It's blizzard conditions outside right now with another 10-12 of snow. Awesome! Not.

Wooly

Officially started the rebuild.....

continued with fabbing the rear bumper with tire swing out. Mounted the new bracket to hold the switches for my aux nights and mounted a new aux fuse box to power said switches.
