What did you do to or with your CJ today?
we had freezing rain last night and a lot of trees came down we also lost power for 6 hrs and i got my internet back on around 1 pm today it gets a signal from a tower 3 miles away anyway 2 trees almost hit my jeep wich is in a feild so im off to the scrapyard to get 4 scrap hoods then my plan is to stick them under the jeeps wheels and hopefully the jeep knows how to ski :D then i can get it home :D

Hey Fishin
keep us posted. I would love to see it through each phase of rebuild. CJ8 's rock..

I painted stuff. I dropped the steering column and used "plastic paint" on it, I would recomend something other than Valspar plastic paint, not that I am saying bad things about it, it may be as good as it gets. I know the surface was clean and fine sanded and the first thing the paint does is fish eye. I suspect that had something to do with "bonding" with the plastic. after the second coat most of the eyes went away. It will look tolerable in the places that show. And it looks better than blue.
I rebuilt the U joint at the bottom of the steering shaft, new boot, blocks and retainer clip, new grease.
pulled and painted ,Rustoleum gloss black, the peddle assembly and brushed and painted up under the cowel. I noticed that the fresh air intake does not actually contact the botton of the inside of the cowel. That is surprising. That must be where most of the warm air goes.

i had a great jeep day i installed my carpet and radio and painted pedals and every thing else i could get to and cleaned up the wireing that was a mess it looks so much better

I wired up the turn signals on my TJ fender flares..
Now my radio doesn't work?:bang:

I spent half the day running back and forth to Home Depot buying stuff for my shop air compressor:chug: now I have an 1/2" air line and 3/8" air chucks.....Then I got to order parts for the CJ :chug: new fender flares andspring perches

Burned up the wiper motor! :doh:View attachment 2442

I got a couple of those lying around to bad you live on the opposite side of the U.S from me :( ROAD TRIP! :) but i MIGHT and thats a big might, tear into the timing cover but im going to do what cheapjeep said and check under the valve cover and see if i can see how bad it is off timing. Probably gonna go grab a new module and have it tested before i leave the place.

Tested 4 EGR valves.

Note: Don't blow into the opening when manually opening up the valve. Carbon is a pain in the eyes....

Well, last night I finally pulled the 'stock' build engine I dropped in last fall so I could drive the CJ over the winter while I rebuilt the 'race' build engine.
That didn't happen, so I'm dropping the 'race' engine back in for the season this weekend. Got a few other things planned to go with it, we'll see how it goes!

Where will you be racing??

Right now the only one we have lined out is a local fund-raiser for the Arpelar Fire Dept in Mcalester, OK. All local mud bogs/dirt drags for us, nothing major. But its a fun way to spend a weekend!
This year its supposed to be a 2 day event, with quad racing on saturday. Should be a great time.

Hit up the Wife with a parts list for my drivetrain swap hoping she'll let me borrow my wallet for a while:o. I did it in an e-mail, is that wrong?:D

Discretion is the better part of cowardice.

Well i decided to do my timing since my books showed up. Wow it was way out. So i set it at 5 btdc and was quite happy. Thats what the idiot book said to set it at.
Then i came inside and kept reading, for my year and motor it says look at the sticker under the hood. Don't have one.
Break out the chiltons book that also arrived at the same time and it says 9 degrees btdc. Sugar, its wrong , then i realize i timed it from the #6 cylinder too.
Guess i'll regroup this morning. ran smooth when i was done though:o
