What was the caster angle before shimming? What degree shims did you use? Still sounds like you've got caster issues.
Do your homework, so you have a handle on the terms. Then take the dang thing to a reputable alignment shop, one that knows how to do a straight axle vehicle. See what the 'numbers' are for caster. You need POSITIVE caster, somewhere in the range of 5*-7*, depending on a few other factors.Embarrassed to say I don't even know that terminology. I will do some digging to find out. I really appreciate the input.
Same on my 76. It took 6* shims to get the dang thing into the POSITIVE 5*-7* range. I started out with near ZERO - and NEGATIVE caster, and speeds above 30 mph were 'entertaining', to say the least.I'm running 6* shims in my '75 CJ5 .
Get that Jeep to a alignment shop, and get a printout of what they find. That way we can work with known issues, and stop all this guessing.
I too say, you most likely have castor issues.
