What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Picked up my Granddaughter from HS, and let her drive it home.
You should have seen the other kids eyes open-up, when they saw her driving a stick shift CJ with this old-fart in the passenger seat.

Replaced the rotted brake hoses and right rear hard line that was damaged. Not very exciting work. Flushed the old brake fluid out when bleeding the lines. Feel much better about the safety of the old jeep.
Brake shoes and cylinders look good and it stops OK so on to the next job.

Good Idea! I once had an old truck where the brake hose swelled up on the inside and would not let the fluid return to the master. This caused the rotor to turn blue.

Over the weekend I used my CJ to haul 10 trailer loads of mulch to a playground in our park. Loved using the CJ to navigate my way around the equipment. So easy.

We pressure washed about 75lbs. worth of Indiana off "Chip" following a weekend of camping and off roading with 007 and his daughters, and my wife oldjeeplady. I thought I tore the wires out of the rear locker in the mud, but it only turned out to be some thin vines that were buried in the mud that really looked like wires!

Waiting for a trail thread to start.........

I have a 5 nite club trip planned for early November to Salton Sea in SoCal. If it turns out to be a dud, I won't say anything about it.

Use to camp there all the time with my club. BEFORE the state and feds F:censored:k'd it all up and closed a lot of trails off that we cut.
Had a campsite about a mile west of Hwy 86 in Grave Wash.

I'll remind you....:D

I would enjoy trail pics from SoCal or anywhere on the west coast, I've been waiting for you to post some. :chug:

I have camped many times in Grave Wash, and at the time it was pretty much an open ohv area. It had become overrun due to very heavy use. I remember those steep hills that would stall out my carbed engine along with those very narrow slots that sometimes I had to back out of.

Sure you're not thinking of Palm Wash where TDS is held?
To get to GW you had to get off at Treadwell Blvd and go under the f'way.
Ever been to the flat area in Grave Wash that had the large BBQ set in cement?

I did get my washes mixed up Lumpy, but have used Treadwell a few times. Mostly I would camp at the west end of north Marina drive until it got too popular, moving on to other locations to cruise around the Truckhaven area.

At the split in Grave Wash, stay to the right and in about 1/2 mile or so you'll see a flat area to your right, and just a bit up out of the wash. Good flat area to camp. I've been run'n with 'The Roughwheelers 4WD Club' for about 38 years now.

Went to get the heat blowing on the morning commute. I get heat but no fan action. Guess I have a project to add to the list. I hope it is just a bad ground. Had to add a dedicated ground to it this past April. Maybe it is loose.

Yesterday I drove my CJ7 to work and back home (26 miles each way).
Also drove to the vet with my 13 year old golden retriever. ... on the way home I broke down and had to be towed home!

I have gas going to the tbi and the starter is turning, I fear my dui distributor may have torn up my cam gear.
I'll do some investigating tonight or this weekend.

Figured out why the brake lights don't work, bad hydraulic pressure switch. Took the CJ in for emissions, they weren't busy and she gathered quite a crowd, was sure they would find something in the visual inspection. Naturally it failed the first test, but not by much. Will need to back the advance off some and drop the idle speed a little and it will pass. The CJ did run very well after sitting for about a month. Why did it sit? The brake lights weren't working, was convinced it was something much more difficult to deal with.

Glad you found the b'light issue. That's a strange one......
Hint-If the tech doing the smog says the idle is to high. Tell him to turn the headlights on.....
The drop in idle will back the timing off just a bit.

That's a thought. The problem is even the emissions guys don't know if you passed until the test is done. I'm running with ~12* advance right now, backing it off to ~4* is no problem. The idle speed it @ 750rpms. That can be dropped to 650 without problem. I should have done it this year, but a few issues were taken care of over the last year, new gaskets and parts under the carb, new PCV valve, and a few other minor repairs. It was my hope that these would allow the 360 to pass. The numbers were far better than in previous years, but one set was still to high.

Since to get the CJ on the road the brake lights needed to be rewired. I chose not to use the factory switch and go with a hydraulic switch. Rob at Willys Works warned me that the newer switches were not as reliable as the older ones but went ahead with the ease of the hydraulic switch. Sure enough, the switch only lasted a few years. That didn't stop me from buying another one. The original problem was supposed to be that the switch would leak, this one didn't leak, it just quite working at all. Lets hope this one lasts longer than the first one did.

Rule one of Murphy's Law-If you carry a spare switch. You'll never need it. :p

You've seen a CJ5 , right. There's only so much room and brake lights aren't quite a life or death item that can't wait until a parts store come into view. :)
