my Jeep got some 4x4 competition this week, I was mowing the yard and noticed that the new neighbors on the corner have a restored orange early Bronco with a white truck cab on it hiding in the garage and they drive a Grand Cherokee :0 Im thinking Chrysler Omaha orange is now off the list of color choices for mine

Nahhh - go ahead and paint it orange..... sho em what the color could have been.......

 Had some competition move in this week also. Early 2000s 2 door jeep. Not sure of what model. Didn't get a close up but talked to the guy for a couple of minutes sounds like it needs so time and love. Asked if mine had troubles and I said no works good :chug:

LOL - what flavor pop-tart goes best with the PowerProbe???

Power Probe Plum of course...

Fixed my dash lights today...!!!

Studied several wiring diagrams including the Painless diagram (which shed a lot of light on the headlight switch wire routing).

After getting the PowerProbe III, I was able to isolate sections of the circuit that worked and determine where I had power and ground. Unhooked the battery and checked all wires for continuity.

I finally found that I was not getting power to the double white wire terminal on the headlight switch. I applied 12 volts directly to the terminal with the PPIII and the dash lights came on.

Went back and checked all the fuses... all good... then I noticed an empty fuse slot. What the hell?!?!

I can hardly believe it, but the fuse apparently fell out of the fuse box (must have been loose because it was all working two weeks ago). Apparently it finally fell out... then got shop vac'ed up. I wasn't looking for a missing fuse because it was recently working and I hadn't removed any fuses.

Popped a new fuse in there and the dash lights worked... and I got a nice new tool out of the ordeal...

Bottom Line:

"Park & Tail" light fuse provides one of two points of power to the headlight switch. Both the "Park & Tail" fuse and the "ACC LPS" lamp fuse must be working for the dash lights to work.

Put in the new starter after disintegrating the drive gear on the old one. Much research indicates that I did in fact have the correct bell housing, flywheel, and starter. Transmission is still supported with a jack awaiting a new cross member, but I set a battery inside the fender well, hooked up my starter button to the solenoid, and gave it a try. Success! The engine cranked nicely, and the starter worked without a hitch!
We started the engine rebuild (among other things) about 2 months ago, and I have been anxious to hear the newly rebuilt engine run. What the heck! There is no radiator in it yet. The exhaust is not connected to the manifolds yet. But I thought just 10 seconds or so just to hear it run! So I turned on the ignition key and went back under the hood with my starter button. I was going to pour some gas down the carburetor, but decided to give it a try without. I hit the button, the engine cranked, and I heard a few pops! I pumped the carb linkage a few times and hit the button again. The engine roared to life! It idled smooth after a slight twist of the distributor. I listened to it for a few seconds with a feeling of satisfaction, then I turned the key off. I went into the house with a big smile on my face and told oldjeeplady that we now have a running engine!
A few hours later, we were working on other things. While installing the power steering pump, I had to move the spark plug wires out of the way. That's when I noticed that none of the wires on the left side of the engine were hooked up! First I felt like an idiot. Then I thought to myself, wow! this thing runs better on 4 cylinders now than it did on all 8 before! I guess it helps to not have standard size rings on .030 over pistons as it was when I bought it!
But I still feel like an idiot!

Today i did the single most awsomest bestest thing to my jeep. Thats right , better than a 14 bolt, better than a narrowed 60, nothing comes close v8's,465's,lockers not even 37's on h1's. after driving around with a tilt column so loose my wife wouldnt let the kids in it i finally fixed it! Old posts and old pics. Thanks. And it only took 2 years 7 months and 42 min.

After doing some engine work on my 71 I took it out for a test drive.
We followed a dirt road to the south part of town.
It seemed like we were in the middle of nowhere when I heard music
Is that a bar... sure was, so we pulled in and enjoyed a couple of cold ones.
The bar was chilling very relaxing place to have a beer and play some lawn games.
My new favorite dirt rd bar in town.
Oh, the 71 ran great!

Only you can take a test drive on a dirt road out to the middle of nowhere and find a cool bar.

Remove hard top, fixed exhaust leak washed it check tire pressure tried on strapless bikini top cleaning interior attempt to replace heater controls...grrrrr

Found out why my cd antenna was smacking the bed of the Jeep. The Washington, DC potholes broke my bumper where it mounts to the crossmember

HA - The last thing I'd do is judge someone else's welding

But that'll work.....
