What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Not much to look at, but finished the 2.46 conversion in my Dana 20 . With 22% lower low range, it should be the same as swapping my 4.10s for 5.00s

Iv been thinking about that swap for a couple months now. It’s the perfect beer budget boost! did you have much grinding, or any at all? Been reading FSJ d20s needed less grinding than CJ d20s.

I did have to do some grinding, and more than I had expected actually. I wish I would have taken some pictures, but I got in a hurry as usual. There is a ridge inside the case that follows the bottom cover that I had to grind down. The case is plenty thick there, so I wasn't worried about making it too thin, but I was worried about getting to close to the bolt hole for the bottom cover. I ended up not needing to get as close as I thought. Other than that ridge, there were a couple other spots I had to clearance slightly. I used a cheap air die grinder from HF with the stone that came with the grinder. I spent more time checking the fit than I did actually grinding. At first, I was a bit nervous about taking the grinder to the case, but it wasn't too bad.

I can't wait to get it back in to feel the difference, but have to finish the Transmission rebuild first. But I think it will be alot of bang for the buck. I was able to pick up the Bronco rear slider off of eBay for $50 shipped. Then I bought an entire D18 case with bull gear for $100 shipped, also from ebay. Already had the gasket kit to put it back together, and put new bearings in 1.5 yrs ago, so it only cost me $AMC 150 total (plus gave me an excuse to buy a die grinder). Also, if you decide to do it and find a whole Bronco case, I have an extra D18 front sliding gear (18-8-22) I bought before I found the whole case I'd be willing to sell.

Started collecting the parts for a complete rewire with dual batteries / separate switched and unswitched acc circuits. EFI upgrade, change from points to HEI, and new seats.

Tore apart the upper heater unit...

Got my wheels blasted, and new white powder coated painted, and new 31" BFG Mud Terrain KO2s mounted and it rides so much smoother now since I'm off the old bald BFG mud terrains. Since there was no tread left I felt every bump

The last 2 weekends:

Paramount automotive front flat fenders and rear fender flares.

Replaced all body mount bolts and fixed the 3 that were spinning in the body.

Reamed front knuckles and flipped 1-ton steering over the knuckle.

Installed revolution 1 piece rear axle kit.

Replaced all rear brakes, adjusters, hardware and wheel cylinders.

Installed mechanical water temp gauge.

Replaced coil with HV blaster

Next weekend:

Install twin stick for my Dana 300
Install new fuel, volt and oil gauges.
Rebuild steering column

Couple pics of my project

What tie rod/drag link are you using?

The rugged ridge kit. They use moog heavy duty tie rod ends. Easily replaceable from any parte store.

I used the reamer from east coast gear supply to cut knuckles enabling me to flip over the knuckle.

Thanks. Got mine from PSC and don't have enough room to mount a stabilizer, and the end on the pitman rubs a tad on the tie rod. Need a smaller tube.

Yours have enough room between the tie rod and connecting rod for a u bolt to mount a stabilizer?

Once You flip the steering over the knuckle there is no need for a stabilizer. It’s cures the bump steer 100%. I can roll down the highway with 1 hand on the wheel at 80mph with no wandering.
