What did you do to or with your CJ today?
I drove my 57' around and checked the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge-52 psi cold and hot at 2000rpm and 18psi hot idle with 30w.Went wheeling on the back 20 and realized my carter carb doesn't like hills. Is this normal?

Picked up a Dana 44 front axle out of a cherokee chief :)

This was NOT a good day for me and my Jeep. I went on what should have been a quick four wheel trip to check out the cabin I will be renting next weekend.

The cabin looked great. Then I got a flat tire. That's the third fricken flat tire I have had in the last year.

Then 20 minutes later I broke my f:censored:n leaf spring. The main leaf of my front left spring broke. I often beat on my jeep but this was a very mild trail. Yea, maybe it was already cracked. So then I slowly limped my way down to Silverton. I left my jeep at a gas station and asked a stranger for a ride back to my home in Durango (an hour away).
Now what????
Well I will order new leaf springs. I could replace them myself right there in Silverton but I may have someone do it for me. I have a friend flying in from Minnesota and he won't want to help or watch me replace my leaf springs.
Next weekend I was planing on this jeep trip to the cabin. Now I guess I will be "jeeping" in my Subaru. I should be able to get it to the cabin but I wont be able to take my Subaru on any of the trails I was planning on going to.

Dang, Sorry to hear that Dave. I guess it's always when, not if we have a breakdown. Glad you didn't have to walk out.
Nice pics.

My jeepin wasn't too good this weekend either.
My dog "Jet" who is in a bunch of my gallery pics fell out from the passenger seat. He sometimes daydreams with his nose up against the windshield. No crazy bump, hard turn or anything. He just fell out.
Jet's pretty stiff in his rear end. We'll see, if he doesn't come around, we may have to see the Vet. I feel like :dung:.

I watched it drive by with it's new owner :(
But atleast he's working on it and making nice progress.

Dave, sounds like you had a bad day.:(

Mine got to try on her $100 used shoes from Craigslist. Decent set of BFG AT 33's. Also put new bikini top on I bought on ebay.

I finally took Jet to the vet after he didn't seem to improve much.
X-ray reveals nothing broken, but lots of swelling. Possible that hip was dislocated. Door is back on.

Now that sounds like just to much fun. Wish I could help, going to disc brake it?

I used to have the best Jeep Dog ever, he loved going on any jeep trip I made and felt like he owned the passenger seat. I remember quite a few times bouncing him onto the floor and he made a few quick exits but never just fell out. I hope he is better soon, Jeep Dogs are just to fun.

Found a place fasten my highlift down inside the jeep with $7 of hardware and installed an external speaker for my CB.

Baja it's a front axle so it already has disc's. It's a long term project to go with the 8.8 (with disc's) I have for the rear. I have to narrow it and get a locker ect. ect.
My 30 is still alive and doing well so it will get worked on as money and time allows. (still putting the 8.8 together) It might be ready in a year or two :D It was just to good a deal to pass up only $50.

Took my '81 CJ5 on the Rubicon last week, just ahead of the Jamboree . My 6th trip and I have never seen it so bad. Swapping out the T-15 3 speed for the T-18 was the best mod ever. It's a daily driver to so I was especially pleased. Thanks to all who helped me make the swap with links and advice. This site rocks.

Drove the CJ7 up to our hockey teams annual "Tin Cup Classic" Cutthroat trout fishing derby/ bender.
I got 3rd with 241" with 23 fish, biggest at 17" Not pictured.
All home,alive,& not much smarter.
Not sure what to make of this pic. I noticed it along the way.

Yesterday, I replaced all wiring from the dash to the rear lights. Now I have brake lights as well as tail lights! :chug:
While I was doing the job, my key tumbler stripped and I couldn't get the thing started. So, I spent the better half of an hour removing the steering wheel (without a puller) and tearing apart the steering column. Did you know a rod about the thickness of a clothes hanger is what starts your CJ? Apparently, there is no electronic connection to the key tumbler. The tumbler simply turns a gear that moves this rod up and down. The other end of the rod turns on/off the starter switch. WEIRD!

So, I have decided to make my Jeep a push button start. LOL. Who needs a key. :D Starting a new thread on the idea.....

Leaned out the Mc2100 on the Salvage CJ7 by a full turn on both venturiis. My eyes dont burn anymore. :D

I had a friend fly in from Minnesota. We rented a cabin for what would have been a jeep trip into the mountains but a week ago I broke my front leaf spring. I had a replacement shipped in but it turned out to be the wrong part so I took my Subaru to the cabin.

For 24 hours I rented a TJ for $AMC 150 . I thought a broken spring was going to wreck my jeep trip but it only made it more expensive. I was planning on driving my V8 powered CJ5 with 35 inch mudders for 4 days but instead I was driving a 4 banger TJ with 31 inch tires for one day.

That last cabin is not the one I stayed at. I just thought it made a nice picture. If you want to see where I stayed check out this link:

Found a CJ7 with a v8 and 44 rear the owner swapped in a 44 front to match and it was cheap. To bad my pockets are on E!

pulled the motor mounts off the frame, chenging to a 350, pulled the stock front shock mounts off, switching to the Ford shock mounts, thanks to Dalefan and Old Dog for the idea. Also trying to get the leaf springs ready to mount, but the old bolts that have been cut off are not in the mood to come out yet. P'Blaster will have to do some work for a couple days for those to come out.
