What did you do to or with your CJ today?
Installed the wiper assembly, stainless hood latches and other hood hardware now that I have the new paint buffed out. I also ordered a few more of the remaining parts that I'll need to finish it. Tonight I'll be installing the new flares, and the freshly resized and balanced rear drive shaft. It won't be long now! :D

road around the hunting club checking game camera's. showed the land owner what a jeep is for by going thru and over area's he said a bulldozer couldn't. lol

came home and loaded up the wife for a trip to town for dinner.

BRD

research... grilled out bbq drumsticks....rained like h**l....ordered chinese

Spent the morning putting a new higher cfm elect fan in. Than checking all the fluids after playing in some deep mud holes a couple weeks ago, they all looked good except the front diff was kinda dirty looking so I changed it. Trying to get it ready for our ride in Harlan KY. labor day weekend.

Anything you did, washed it , broke it, drove it, or improved it!

post up

Installed a ground buss on the fender beneath the battery, using 12 inches of 1in dia. copper tubing with 2in brass hex bolts 5/16. Two of the bolts, with 5/16ths copper tubing standoffs, screw right into the bolt holes where the old scissor jack was.

I'm hooking up all electrical circuit returns-to-ground back to the ground buss, completely isolating the electrical system from the frame and tub.

All runs out to lights, trailer, gas tank, instrument panel are made from No.2 multistrand copper. Will post pics after the next work session. Good Lord but it is hot outside today!

I'm hooking up all electrical circuit returns-to-ground back to the ground buss, completely isolating the electrical system from the frame and tub.
Why?

I'm doing the same thing. Doesn 't everybody?

I'm doing it because I have a fiberglass tub. Not sure what his excuse is.

In an hour or so, I'll be done with the entire wiring harnesses, or would that be harnessaie????

Pictures to follow in my CJ7 build thread.

since i finished up the shock towers i notices while i was under it i had two tie rod end boots tore real bad so i got some energy suspension ones and put them on.

Lights are dim; gauges unreliable, gastank readings erratic, and resistance readings from battery ground to light sockets show high resistance. The frame and tub have too much grease and dirt in all the connecting places.

Next time I see something that I have to puzzle over, it ain't gonna be electrical.

did front shackle reversal and installed full width 3/4 ton dodge axles on my cj, and future plans include installing an LA 318 and propane conversion.

went to the woods and lost my clutch completely.
hydro line was rubbing against the frame and finally rubbed a hole/I lost all hydro fluid and...ta da... no clutch.

easy fix though and I'm back on the road.

Finished my under hood wiring harness, ran all the new grounds for the electrical system since I have the fiberglass tub, got all the lights hooked up and working, including signals and back up lights, installed the emergency brake pedal and cables.

One more full day's work and I should finally be ready for a test drive! :D

Finally put the soft top back on mine, so it will be a little more protected from the winter elements while it sits waiting on parts...:(

order leaf springs, replaced key switch ( got pics ) thinking about posting my locksmith tricks on the steering column teardown for anyone who needs layman terms after roughly 1000 i got afew tricks and can get it all done with clean up in 10 to 15 min what ya tink:dunno:

I finished the fab on the electric fan and shroud for my CJ5 . shroud sounds classier than 1.5x2 foot sheet of 10ga. aluminum with a hole cut in it and some angle reinforcement on the edges.
I don't know how well my arrangement will work but it was a lot of work and I hope it is worth it.
Now I need to wire it to the power control with a 40 amp relay and I should be good to go.
I have got to do a wiring diagram, Most of it is just like the factory did it but the headlights fan and ignition have changed quite a bit and I would hate to have to work on this in the dark with a flashlight. I would also hate to be seen as that PO that messed up the wiring. Just because someone else can' figure it out.

I installed 4 new Black Diamond shocks, 4 new spring shackles and all new poly bushings in the springs, sway bar, shocks, and shackles. Then I tool the wife to Dairy Queen. They were closed at 9:30 pm. Bummer. It was a nice drive anyway.

I spose i better put this down lol i turned the dizzy on my AMC 232 i6 so its ON TIME :D so basically i just have left is putting everything back together and it SHOULD fire in all reality.

Just finished bleeding my brakes, now I can actually stop. Its kinda nice.
