After four hours of torn knuckles and throwing tools around in frustration, i'm 90% done with installing my Tuffy Overhead Console. The biggest disappointment was when I realized the box was two inches too long to mount to the roll cage. I had to mount one end with U-bolts, and the other end I just cable tied it to the roll bar for the time being.

The Console is definitely the kind of built quality you would expect from Tuffy, but the instructions are confusing as hell. They really need to make a step by step youtube instructional video to guide you through it.

Still easier than building one from scratch.....

Sent from the surface of the sun.... I mean my garage

After owning the same set of tires since buying my CJ5 six years ago (who knows how long the PO had them), I bought a set of BF Goodrich All-Terrain KO2's. Haven't had a chance to really try them out, but from what I've heard they're pretty good tires.

I have those only in M/S and really like them.

Just had a set of those (and new rims) put on my CJ5 the other day. It's Lipstic-on-a-pig in my case because I'm just getting to this restoration thing but they do seem like very good tires.

:D I felt exactly the same way! The tires made the rest of the CJ5 look so bad that I had to sand and paint the peeling and faded hood. Don't get me wrong, i'm not a showroom jeep guy. I think a CJ should have its war wounds, but I also don't want to look like a homeless guy driving around. :)

A jacket & tie and that 5 will be looking real sharp ! :)

I put ALL new innards in my rear drums, Shoes, springs, pins, adjuster cable, and adjusters. Got through it all with only 1 busted knuckle. Oh yeah and it was in the Sun at 104 f.

I’ve always run the BFG AT’s and never had a complaint. Haven’t tried the KO2’s - but I’d say they should do just as well.

Sent from the nice cool A/C

Drop the tank and install one. Super easy

While I'm at it, I'll install an escape hatch for when the smokies are on my tail.
