Need to change oil pressure sending unit on amc 360. Anyone know if I need to drain oil first. Seen conflicting answers.
Thanks

No, it's screwed into the block, not the pan. You may lose a few dribbles of oil but nothing serious. Just don't change it while the engine is running.

Took the wife and pooch out for an evening ride. Ever since the stalling out incident a couple of weeks ago I was afraid to take the wife for a ride in case I needed to call someone for a tow lol.
The old boy drove great, i'm regaining my confidence in him again.

Took the new fuel filler neck off and put my old one back on. Sure glad I kept it when I did the tank switch a few months ago. The new one has some kind of funky baffle and spring loaded flap in it I suppose to prevent slop while filling up but all it really does is cause the backflow valve on the gas station pump to cut out all the time and only put in a tenth of a gallon at a time. Took me 15 minutes to put 15 gallons in yesterday before I gave up in frustration.

Looks like you might be able just drill out that rivet holding on the flapper doohicky?

I just bought new tank filler neck stuff - hope I won't have some problems...

The new filler neck was Omix because that is all I could find. Should have listened to LG

MTS sells filler necks, but not sure if they're OMIX or not. Might be worth a call. They're friendly folks over there...

In preparation for the motor coming out, I disconnected all of the wiring for the Sniper just now. I am going to miss it. I only got to enjoy it for 8 months.

I made the mistake of listening to my local shop and used ATF in my T-5 Transmission . I’ve been tracking down an intermittent noise for over a year.

Finally decided to use the synthetic syncromesh that LG recommended and haven’t heard the noise in over a month.

When I drained the old ATF there was a silver film in the bottom of the drain tray. Nothing I could feel... looked like a very thin silver paint. Hopefully I didn’t cause any permanent damage. It has always shifted smoothly...

Listen to LG... he knows stuff.

Thought I should replace my old ignition module today. Turned out to be the factory AMC unit, and the backing had completely melted into this ghostbusters like ectoplasm gooo. Never seen anything like it. :)

That hurts buddy. I really hope it doesn't cause any permanent damage. Cant trust parts stores nowadays. Unless I get a second opinion from the CJ forum, I don't do it.

So...you were satisfied with it, then? If you had another opportunity to install one, you'd do it again?

100% agree. The tank I had was missing the sending unit gasket from the factory. I emailed them and they sent me two replacements express mail the next day even though I bought my kit from Summit and not direct from them. I am starting to find out that most of the specialty places that do Jeep parts go out of their way on customer service unlike the big monster companies that do enough volume that they don't really have to care if one customer is unhappy.

Took her for a short drive today. I knew it was going to rain all through the night last night so I parked her in the driveway (instead of the garage) to test out the new soft top. I had installed the upper door halves and attempted to bend them to get the best seal I could for the upcoming winter and thought this would be a nice little test. Got in this morning and everything nice and dry so the seals were holding well. The drivers side floor was soaked but i'm pretty sure that was due to the windshield rubber leaking. Some of you may have seen me asking about windshield frames here. Don't know that I'll get around to changing it out till after the season.... oh well.

Still working on: got the rear 1-piece axles, the brake master cylinder, those will be installed hopefully by the end of October. Exhaust manifold still enroute, gotta get this done real soon.
