What did you do to or with your CJ today?

Replaced the sending unit in my gas tank and put new fuel line from the tank to fuel pump.
That was the easy part. Mounting the fuel tank back under the Jeep was a PITA!!!! The darn tank "shield" was sprung about an inch too wide and bent all to :dung:. The holes were a long way from lining up. I used pipe clamps and a BFH to beat it into submission.
Poured what gas I had on hand [about 6 gallons] into the tank and my gauge registered a little past 1/4 tank so I think it is calibrated pretty close.
Took it for a short test drive and it ran better than it has since I purchased it. Hopefully this will fix my stalling out problem, time will tell..................

I rigged up a better inside latch on my soft doors today. They are 2-piece doors and with the upper half installed they can be a bear to close. I made a handle right over the latch itself for a good one-handed close. Opening is a two-handed procedure from the inside but i'm ok with that, it works great and the seal around the door is fantastic. Total cost from the hardware store was $15.66 (just the drivers door). Drilled two holes and bolted down in five minutes. The bolt lengths went from 2.5 inch to 3 inch when i need a 2.75 inch to make it perfect but I don't mind.

That is a good solution. I found a good spot on the upper middle support bar to pull from. I agree it is harder to get the latch to engage fully with upper on the door.

I did try to find other spots first to pull from. I can slide my fingers through the velcro above the latch mechanism but it just didn't work right every time. There is a bend in one of the cross bars that makes a handle to pull on but it's really too far away from the latch itself to be of much use with the top half on. I might look for some black bolts to replace those with though.

Very nice! I love a scratch made solution...... And you know it’s a good one when you immediately say to yourself “WHY DIDNT I DO THAT A LONG TIME AGO?!?!”

I am lucky then. Because the spot on mine is almost mid point of the door and they latch perfectly. I thought about making a pull handle to attach there. But I am lazy.

Just installed a roll-bar mount for my Hi-Lift jack. Hi-Lift says it's only for JK's but it easily works on my CJ5 . Originally the jack was on my tire carrier, but I'm concerned about all that extra weight hanging on the end. :)

I like that

Got mine on the hood, but I want to be able to have the option of laying the windshield down

You haven't tried putting the top on, I don't guess? Just wonder if it hangs over the edge of the tub at all

I don't know if mine's longer...seems like it may be

Might whack a little off the top of it to get it to fit

Started getting the hard top ready for cold weather (Gotta be warm prowling the malls, don’t ya know LOL). Window tint needs to be replaced, inside needs paint........ Old tint came off today.

Then I just stepped outside an took her picture.... Cold as a wedge - didn’t turn turn the key today

I see the more contrast in that one. I like contrast, sometimes too much. But i still prefer film 😉

Well, once the older photographers reach room temperature, film will be gone. It’s already hard to find and the selection has dwindled significantly

Not even close my friend, there are lots of companies still making plenty of film and new companies too. Kodak has even brought stuff back from the dead. It's not going anywhere 😁

Haven't put the top on yet, but I'm 99.99% sure it won't be a problem. Assuming you've got the 48-inch jack, there over two inches between the ends of the jack and the outer lip of the tub, where the top is. The jack doesn't extend beyond the outer edge of the roll-bar. Unless your softop is just super loose and flaps around massively on the road, I just can't imagine the top ever touching the jack.

I didn't like the idea of putting the jack on the hood. I regularly flip my hood over so it's laying against the windshield. Makes it easier to see what i'm working on.

Well, that's good to hear. Last I looked, film selection was withering on the vine. Glad it's making a comeback.

How about a button head bolt and paint the head black... or a round head (philips) machine screw...

A philips machine screw would be great so it would look like the others in there. Maybe I can find one online in the right length.

Put my new OU stickers on and tried to get the smell of death out of the interior from the Jeep Mouse that my trap caught at some point while I was in the States for the past two weeks. I am hoping that cleaning up the bits that stuck to the floor when I picked it up and pouring some boiling vinegar on it gets rid of the smell. I smelled worse in Iraq but still, winters coming on and I don;t want to drive everywhere with the window open because my CJ smells like week old roadkill.

You could probably add that to the list of CJ issues when the wife refuses to let you park in the garage.
