Do you ever get tired of going to places like this?? Would it be a treat for you to make the drive from Amarillo to Dallas?? It you have never been, it's flat and featureless, I, personally, try to make the trip in the dark, it's much more interesting that way. It could make a nice change for you.
I am used to the flat featureless Midwest. I have lived most of my life in Iowa and southern Minnesota. Similar to Texas only lots more snow. I've always wanted to live in Colorado and now I'm here to stay.

I've made that drive. It's almost as bad as taking I-35 up through Kansas.

I installed a new steering stabilizer, new bump stops, and new leaf spring plates.

put in the new seat belts. That sounds easy doesn't it? Had to relocate them a bit so the retractors would fit in the space between the seat and the side panel and made an extension for the inside to bring the buckle above seat so they could be reached after the console/box was in.
I learned that if you let a brand new alternator set with out running it for close to a year the brush can stick to the slip ring just enough to crack it when you do start it. the result is no voltage output. Just got it back from the shop, lifetime warranty and all that, remounted the voltage regulator, that was a lot easier to do when the dash was off. Now I just have to rewire and give it the smoke test. Tomorrow night with luck.

Nice pictures Old Dog.
Going over your gallery it looks like you find lots of challenging trials.

Yea we have a few challenging spots, but I wish I had your mountains as a back drop.

We took the top off the CJ, and took it out for a shake down run around the valley. almost everything works, few electrical bugs but no major issues. very happy to be topless again!

had a good day, new red urethane motor mounts, Transmission mounts and replaced the donut gasket. Pulled the skid plate off to do the tranny mount and found a pair of pliers I lost in about 1989.
