What did you do to or with your CJ today?

And a CJ clip on a YJ, is very common, now a YJ clip on a TJ, according to the Wrangler forum I'm also on is blasphemy and I'm getting tarred and feather for even considering it, those TJ guys are fanatical about their Jeeps  which is what the wife wants me to do to the 98 TJ I'm picking up tomorrow. They already don't know how to act with my CJ clip on my current TJ, having round headlights still has them befuddled how to respond🤣🤣

Yet they're flat fender there TJ's no questions asked.

When I decide to pull the trigger I'm going to graft a 9 slot MB grill on my CJ so I can still use my CJ hood and fenders and really throw everyone for a loop

Glad I don’t have those difficulty’s. On average we get a little snow about every 10 years or so. If I get a need for some, I fly and visit. No need to shovel or blow it. A few days is enough for a few years. I know enough people who only like to see it in pictures now after living it. Just glad I didn’t have to work in that or the heat.

I love it when we get hammered with snow but it needs to come up the I95 corridor so that it dumps on DC as well and shuts everything down. Otherwise I get it in the mountains but still have to get to work in the city witch is bull.

There's a lot going on but here's a size reference. My thoughts are to cut and weld in the MB grill (keep it's light setup) to my existing CJ grill so that I can still run my fenders hood and cooling with out it looking out of place 85fee0cd46feaefb7b0d5e8e728f3c65.jpg

I'd change fenders and hood

That's a lot to modify and you may run into clearance issues as the MB had a shorter motor both in height of the block and the fact that it had a flat head. That's why the m38a1 started using the rounded hood seen on CJs. Then you got the length issue to deal with on both the fenders and hood as the MB was also shorter in the front since it had 2 less cylinders

The fenders from a YJ might be a closer fit to the grill than the CJ

all though looking at your overlay pic of grills, the CJ fenders might not take much to mod

I was just going to graph the grill into the CJ7 grill and leave the rest alone

Fun times, once its going seems to run good, i made an adapter for my throttle to make it taller so it would slow the throttle opening.

Mines been running fine for 2+ years now I don't know what the heck happened. I have it pretty well dialed back in but I have a bit of a surge from time to time so I'm thinking I might have a leak. I'm going to replace the gaskets and see if that corrects the issue or not

Prior to my current EFI setup (Edelbrock ProFlo), I used some different TBI units (Holley Sniper, AFI, etc) and had non-stop issues with each. However, that experience did help me learn more about EFI "under the covers" by learning more tuning and common issues. Rough/changing idle and surging were almost always vacuum leaks somewhere. So Manic's on the right track. The one exception that I also found was when the ground for the ECM was different than that of the sensors the ECM was reading. For example, the ECM grounded to a mounting point on the body (firewall, dash behind glovebox, etc) and of course the engine sensors grounded on the engine where they were mounted. Most of the sensors (IAC, IAT, MAP, O2) are only providing small, sometimes decimal amounts of voltage variation that the ECM is picking up on. So if two grounding points are not electrically the same (have even a fraction of a voltage difference due to wire resistances over a long length or paint/rust/corrosion at a contact point), this could also cause the ECM to think it's seeing sensor variations that aren't really occurring. A good solid engine ground to the NEG post and the ECM also grounded to that same battery post would ensure no gremlins confusing your system.

With the sniper the ecm is built into the unit so the wiring is all in one. It's a really nice setup. I'm leaning towards a base gasket leak under the EFI unit

Might have to talk to you about that.
