What did you do to or with your CJ today?

What did you do to or with your CJ today?
I actually felt good enough and it was warm enough (almost 70* today! :)) that I got a little work done on the dash. No good pics tho.
I spent about 5 hours making a 1/2 hour bracket, but it felt good to be out in the garage again!

It was a great day out today. I love living this far south. Spring/fall weather pops up in the middle of winter.

Too bad my flywheel isn't the right depth and my clutch hits the throwout arm. Now I get to take that to a machine shop and have them do some creative cutting. But at least I wasn't freezing my snardlies off while doing the work.

Started it and it ran. After being down for about a year, was nice to hear the motor again.

Now to put on a new exhaust and I can actually drive it again.

Got my B&M shifter hooked up.

Did a test fit of the new dash insert and painted it before the cold snap...Now to go out and see if the paint went on OK in an unheated garage!

Playing in the Snow

I went playing in the snow. Even with 35 inch mudders. I was dragging my axles. I had my winch for piece of mind but I never had to use it.

Fun!
I absolutely LOVE snow-runs. More so then rockcrawling (but dont tell any of my Jeep friends) :D

Re: Playing in the Snow

nothing, i worked on my xj instead

i hate this new fangled stuff :D

I took it in the snow for the first time today. Coincidently, I used the winch for the first time today as well. I blew a radiator hose, but that was an easy fix. Had a good time taking the son up and blasting some cans.

Good times!!

I finely got the soft top on, I have a hard top but thought I would try the "minimalist" concept for a while. I now remember why I spent all that money on the hard top and why I hate rag tops, most specifically, when it needs to be on the CJ and it is below 80 degrees.
As I was setting in the drivers seat admiring the view there was one thing I was impressed with. I was comfortable!! The seats are just the right height and distance from the petals and the tilt wheel puts the wheel right where I want it to be.
The next step is to put it outside for a couple of weeks so I can work on the fiberglass windshield frame I picked up last summer. I know this post is getting really winey but I would like to say, in all honesty, I hate working with fiberglass. It's sticky and itchy and nasty and it never goes away.

I had to put a hot battery in mine today and get her out of the barn to pull a boat out for some friends of mine. They wanted to buy the motor off of the boat and I was gonna junk it so it works out. took a while to get her going. I had a charger on the battery that was in it but wound up using the battery out of my car. this cold Ohio weather is hard on batteries.

yeah I guess not compared to Alaska. lol. just wish that I had a top.

I pulled the steering column today. This the second one I broke in about one years time. I had enough of this tilt steering so I'm going with a straight shot this time around.

what caused the failure????

Realized today that wiring is a thankless job, but a necessary one...

I really enjoy doing wiring. I should probably fine counseling of some sort.

Not all today, but latest project has been a heater system refurb/upgrade. New thermostat, Blazer fan, cleaned, refurbed flapper and cover seals on the box, replaced lower duct, lubed cables and will finish with the defroster hose today.

Nice to have plenty of warmth in and 84 CJ8 !:chug:

I'll go after the radiator and coolant hoses next go-round.
