What did you do to or with your CJ today?
I turned the back seat area into a play area for my 7 month old while I cleaned the shop.

Well, not JUST today, but for a few days. I took my near perfectly good AMC360/T-150 /Dana 20 setup and removed the T-150 /20. Weird Dana 20 had "J" shifter that did not work well anyway.
Put in a T18A/Dana 20 with twin stick shifter for Dana 20 , replaced clutch and all the goodies.
Reworked the stock crossmember to fit the front of the T-18 (i.e. cut slot and used BFH to persuade crossmember to bend just enough to clear tranny.
Was able to reuse front driveshaft. Woo hoo! (replaced ujoints).

Now alls I gotta do is find a new rear shaft (old one was short by 1/2") which actually should be on it's way.

Fix crossover exhaust pipe, which was cut in a moment of frustration. Needlessly too. DERN!

Replace interior covers.

Find Mud and rocks. Hope it does not go kablooie!

It was 50* out today when I got home from work, so I fired up
the cj and drove it to towm to my doc. app.
This is the first time I've driven it since christmas.:driving:

I haven't driven the old gal since October.

So last nite i grabbed a barleypop, & sat in the drivers seat, Fired her up, turned on the am station that was playing Waylon.
We had a long talk about if we can afford some new shoes for her.
A new set of BFG MT KM2's would be sweet, & we could drive in the winter some. We agreed that as soon as Uncle Sam comes through i'll cure those sore feet.
We bonded right there in the driveway. It's been way too long.

After an all out blizzard and a foot and a half of snow a couple weeks ago, in which the old girl performed magnificently, it warmed up and melted off the snow. Yesterday it was 70 degrees, and it's 60 today, so night before last I took down the convertible top and tried out my new bikini top for the past couple days! I know I'll have to put the full top back on this weekend, but it was nice to enjoy dreaming about Spring for a bit. :D

Drove it to work. Found the new exhaust leak. On the way home it started sucking air with the fuel and stopped running. With 10 gallons left in the tank I could hear the fuel pump on the inside of the frame loudly cavitating from sucking air.

So I spent thirty quality minutes with the CJ5 in a no parking zone waiting for my wife to bring me a couple of gallon of gas. After the pressure built up she fired up flawlessly. I filled the tank on the way home and parked her in the driveway for tomorrow's continued adventures in maintenance.

Yesterday I completely disassembled my tilt steering column, cleaned up the internals, replaced the upper bearings, replaced the ignition components including the ignition switch and installed a new turn signal switch. It should be all good to go. Now all I have to do is install it in the Jeep.

Well I ordered a new aluminum dash...then the new tach...and while I was at it a new clock.....I got the new HEI disto in the mail sweet :chug:

Cool! If your HEI works as good as mine, you'll love it!

Last weekend I got the gas pedal modified for the LOCAR cable, got the cable installed, and finally worked up a solution to finish the power brake conversion. Pulled the rear and passenger seat out. Installed the new radiator. Got it fired up, but I still think it needs a new carb.
Got the boat ready for the season, and took it and a buddy's boat for a shakedown cruise. Grounded his on a sandbar and nearly hit a rock pile in the water, played with the carbs on mine. Did some fishin' while we were out there, got skunked.
Did a Cheer comp with the kiddo, (another first place) and shopped for a ZTR mower for my buddy. Talked him out of buying one.
Not very much done for a 4 day weekend, but it was fun! :)

Team rush upgrade and the complete installation of the MDS 6A ignition modification. Traced the phantom headlight short. Replaced both the 180 degree thermostat and the foot dimmer switch.

The team rush upgrade and the MDS system is quite amazing. Still have a carb problem though. Tomorrow, rear shocks, complete belt swap and look at the manifold leak....

Headers? What do I actually gain? Any opinions? How expensive for an inline 6 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ?

Put on my Rugged Ridge winch.Used a Promark mount kit for a CJ.Still had to mod the mount plate by slotting the holes to get the plate to mount to the side plates.Looks like the frame has been renforced at some to or another.
Looks good and works.Hope I never need to use it:D

Got the fender put on today, did a little cleaning up on my new wiring harness. Finally fired it long enough to get it up to operating temp, and found a few problems. The least of which is it still won't idle correctly :grr: I hope the guy I located at work can rebuild the carb as well as he says he can!

I put a 4" Super lift spring set up with shocks,I made new stock length shackels out of 3/8 stock and drilled the bolts for greese zerks and all new poly bushings. 4" drop pitman and lengthened my sway bar links by 4". I am running 33/12.50/15 with a ruged ridge 6" flare It drives great. Po had stock springs with 10" shackels and stock shocks LOL. It rode ok but the shocks were toping out all the time. Tomorrow I tackel new brakes rotors wheel sylinders and brake lines. Then all u-joints. This is my first Jeep and I am loving it. I am also Powdercoating all the parts as I go.

(this was yesterday actually)

I finished washing out the frame, and got a coat of anti-rust paint sprayed in it.
And I started straitening out one of the fenders.

In about 30 minutes with a couple ball pein hammers, I wen't from this,

to this.

I'll finish smoothing it out today, and then a coat of body filler should finish it up nicely.

I drove it for approx. AMC 150 miles and front tranny seal went out (auto TF999 ). This jeep sat for 10 years before i got it, and this was the first serious driving I've done gonna pull the motor to replace the seal and do some other stuff to it while its out.

I put in a windshield, took out the rusted up roll bar sanded it down and sprayed it with a generic spray on rhino lining (7 of 12 bolts broke getting it out).

With the help of a welding friend I installed ford shock mounts. My shocks have been banging into my axle. That's because of the shackle reversal the PO did. Many people have just bolted the ford shock mounts on but they are so tall and stuck out so much they would have rubbed hard into my tires. So I cut them shorter and had a friend weld them on. They are still plenty long. I made sure they wouldn't bottom out before my suspension compressed all the way. To accommodate my shackle reversal the shock mounts are now welded a little more to the rear than stock shock towers.

The bought Dotsch Tech shocks that have the bottom of the shock is also offset. This picture is upside down.

These should work better.
