Replaced my ignition switch, repaired the horn lead, lithium greased all the moving column parts i could get to, since the turn signal assembly was out.(actually did that yesterday evening)
Broke a column spring compresser, because I forgot about the uncut splines on the Upper shaft.
Oh yeah, steering wheel centering is done with the Steering Arm, not centering the wheel where you want it.
Today.
I Replaced the steering shaft with a HD Crown one. Wanted a decent one that would still collapse in a front end collision. Not a fan of being Impaled with an "HD "off road" unit. Great quality and no issues with it.
Going to have to do my column bearings at some point.
Putting that job way down the list since it's a tilt, column shift model from a late eighties Waggy.
I'll try finding a boneyard unit to rebuild, than swap them out. Going to build a harness/relay setup for high beams and wiper on this column. It's already on the Turn Signal Lever. Might as well.
Finally got around to centering the steering wheel. Previous owner had it clocked to 7 position.
I was so happy to try using my still fairly new Air hammer I forgot the best way for tie rod end extraction was a pickle fork. Spent half an hour with a rifler file getting the damaged threads off. Bought a new nut at the part store. Had to buy a mixed set to get the one I needed.
Good day for the 7, and a good day for me.
