I found it much easier to loosen the two square head bolts that lock the tube that its all mounted to in place, and then slide it out so I could set the new stuff up on it outside of the vehicle. Then putting it back in was a piece of cake.

Explored that option but the Transmission won't allow the tube to come out any farther than a 1/2".

Weird? Mine slid right out. Then all I had to do was set up the new shifter on it, slide it back in, and adjust and connect the rods. I wonder what the difference is? I remember having to twist it out a few degrees to get it to clear things, but it wasn't a big deal.

However you installed it, I know you'll love it! :chug:

:)Adding some rear roll cage mounts to the chassis. These will support a removable link to the Top of the wheel well below the roll cage & far enough back to not come in contact with the tire. The link is still in the design phase taking into account shear and side load values.

Front mounts off of the rock guards and threw the floor and rear mounts off the chassis well be floating on High Energy Poly body mounts. The same size being used on the tub / body so that everything is moving in the same moment. Compression value on these Poly mounts is only about 20% with excellent memory & rebound.

I spent the day using my two least favorite tools in the world.

the creeper and tubing wrenches.

the creeper is excellent exercise, like doing stomach crunches all day on a bed of nails that is two sizes too small.

brake lines never seem to come off easily and even good tubing wrenches can strip a fitting head so easily. Is the fitting too soft or is the wrench too sloppy? You decide.

I did find that warming a PV with a heat gun helps a lot. I just could not bring myself to use a torch on this and was surprised how hot the old PV could get with no open flame. Hot enough to raise a blister on a finger.

All in all a day I am glad I do not have to repeat very often.

Spent the weekend up at the family property again, in Darrington, WA, a great launching spot to explore forest service roads, old logging spurs and to just get away, shoot the guns and see beautiful mountain vistas.

THIS is why we spend all winter working on our Jeeps!

Thanks BusaDave and MountainWheeler! Having a good summer finally up here in the PNW and I gotta get the girl out as many times as possible before the Autumn Rain Festival begins.

BTW, both of you guys have very nice rigs too!

Great Pic! I'm jealous. I'll bet it feels a lot better up there than the 106 degree heat we have in KC today! Now I'm jonesing to go skiing!

i prototyped my new door armrests with cupholders.

.., "I see an orange chair and I want to paint it black".

Cool Idea, I'm forever spilling my beer.:chug:

Last night I started thinning out the unwanted wires from a 1993 Cherokee harness so I'll have everything ready if I choose to install multiport fuel injection.

What a mess! I want to remove everything except what's needed specifically for the fuel injection. In other words, no headlights, alternator, horn, washer pump, heater blower, starter, etc....

The problem is, lots of people have spent a lot of time figuring this stuff out, but the only somewhat detailed writeup with pics that I've found is from a guy in Australia, and for some reason the wire colors don't match up.

It also doesn't help that since I didn't pull the harness myself, there are several unlabled plugs that I have to identify.

Getting ready to go out and finish installing the 2 new front springs I got from superlift last week. Got one on and the other one off last night so it shouldn't take to long.

Finally got my E-brake hooked up on the 8.8. The cables were to long to work with the CJ7 cable. I ended up getting a front cable from a CJ5 that was 10" shorter and making a couple brakets to weld in. (They are kinda crude but they work)
I now have e-brakes again :D
