I found it much easier to loosen the two square head bolts that lock the tube that its all mounted to in place, and then slide it out so I could set the new stuff up on it outside of the vehicle. Then putting it back in was a piece of cake.

Explored that option but the Transmission won't allow the tube to come out any farther than a 1/2".

Weird? Mine slid right out. Then all I had to do was set up the new shifter on it, slide it back in, and adjust and connect the rods. I wonder what the difference is? I remember having to twist it out a few degrees to get it to clear things, but it wasn't a big deal.

However you installed it, I know you'll love it! :chug:

I spent the day using my two least favorite tools in the world.

the creeper and tubing wrenches.

the creeper is excellent exercise, like doing stomach crunches all day on a bed of nails that is two sizes too small.

brake lines never seem to come off easily and even good tubing wrenches can strip a fitting head so easily. Is the fitting too soft or is the wrench too sloppy? You decide.

I did find that warming a PV with a heat gun helps a lot. I just could not bring myself to use a torch on this and was surprised how hot the old PV could get with no open flame. Hot enough to raise a blister on a finger.

All in all a day I am glad I do not have to repeat very often.

Thanks BusaDave and MountainWheeler! Having a good summer finally up here in the PNW and I gotta get the girl out as many times as possible before the Autumn Rain Festival begins.

BTW, both of you guys have very nice rigs too!

Last night I started thinning out the unwanted wires from a 1993 Cherokee harness so I'll have everything ready if I choose to install multiport fuel injection.

What a mess! I want to remove everything except what's needed specifically for the fuel injection. In other words, no headlights, alternator, horn, washer pump, heater blower, starter, etc....

The problem is, lots of people have spent a lot of time figuring this stuff out, but the only somewhat detailed writeup with pics that I've found is from a guy in Australia, and for some reason the wire colors don't match up.

It also doesn't help that since I didn't pull the harness myself, there are several unlabled plugs that I have to identify.

Getting ready to go out and finish installing the 2 new front springs I got from superlift last week. Got one on and the other one off last night so it shouldn't take to long.
