What did you do to or with your CJ today?

gonna bleed the brakes AGAIN, and move it out of the garage under its own power for the first time in months

painted the frame yesterday with por 15 and today will be installing the energy bushing kit to the leafs and sway bars

Finish new diff cover install. gear oil change diffs and Transfer Case .

Snugged Tranny pan bolts. lost a over a pint over the winter. Converter drainback stinks.

Planned to get my exhaust swapped out tomorrow. Not gonna happen now. Not drivable. Found a seized caliper, been sitting all winter, w/torn dust seal. Hope NAPA guy was correct on CJ7 and Scout calipers interchanging. Special order be here Wed. A.M. Maybe have time Thurs. to install.

Supposed to go on a club trail run Sat. Can't even put the soft top in while parked in low door garage.

I need to drive my 7. 8o F and sunny today :( . All I've been seeing are Jeeps and motorcycles the past few days.

I was supposed to be finished a month ago. We all know how that goes.

Removed old caliper, since new one came in.

new caliper was an excellent reman, no plastic pistons or half-*** seals. NAPA Rocks. (sometimes)

Inspected the seized caliper, before attaching hose. Smart move. The brake hose banjo bolt had bottomed out on the piston, that's what seized it.

Over the Winter I installed aftermarket brake hoses. I noticed the mounting block was thinner, but it went into place nicely and it seemed O.K.

So basically all I needed was a shorter banjo bolt. Ten years ago every place in town had an assorted drawer full of them. Not anymore.

All the parts houses had NO 7/16-24 bolts, Not only that, they couldn't cross reference or order the original bolt, never mind find me a shorter one.

Took my calipers out of retirement, confirmed what length I needed.

A half-hour with a hacksaw and my rifler files got me up and running again.

Started my shifter linkage rebuild today. Kit was cheap, but came with only only one pillow block (pivot bushing) So far, so good. The spring boot assembly is perfect. the pillow blocks are less beefy but seem engineered and constructed better.

The plastic bushings are a different style than AMC used, and will only install if drawn in with a bolt, socket and washer.

Not rocket surgery, but a P.I.T.A. if in a hurry. Heat didn't soften it, C-clamp didn't work. Hammer didn't work. trimming it down would defeat the whole purpose of the bushing.

Installed Disconnects

Changed oil & filter

Changed spark plugs

Banged up hands

Finished Auto column shifter linkage rebuild.(reverse light comes on every time now, whoda thunk?) Neutral is kind of vague, but I suspect the column detents are to blame.

Temporary repair of floor rot. pans to be ordered soon. Added a little DOT reflective tape, to make up for having virtually no reflectors. Resolved a brake line issue. Had air tubes welded up. Got my inspection sticker.

Took the jeep out wheel'n this weekend.
Pics and trail report will be in a day or two.
