finely took the brake light switch off the fuse block and put it on a fused line from the battery. I think it is the connectors on the back side of the fuse block that are loose/corroded/ old/rusty /whatever, that makes my stop lights not work sometimes. I could wiggle the fuse terminal clip for that circuit and it would work for an unspecified length of time. I think this will do it. I keep thinking about rewiring with apprehension.

when I get back from the Colorado trip the T-18 and the Tera low Dana 20 project begins. That is the plan.

meanwhile back at the ranch, this shows up just when I was doing so well without it. been on CL 6 or 8 months give or take and it keeps calling my name. How cool would this be with the important parts of an XJ under it??

And I am not going to start a thread on this to discuss it with a bunch of people that have no possible reason to talk me out of it.

There was one of those for sale by my house and my wife kept telling me to buy it to build a hot rod truck. Finally i went and looked at it but all the nickel and dimer parts were missing so i passed. It was a tough call though. Love them trucks.

There's no fluid in the bell housing... so should be no need for gasket (aka seal) between them... The Transmission input shaft seals and bearing retainer will keep tranny fluid where it is. Was it a shim maybe? hmmm...

That confused me too.

The front end has been pulled getting ready to swap in another motor. This jeep has been a source of constant wonder to me. Three out of four seems to be it's state. 3 of 4 bolts are good 1 is stripped, 2 of 4 wheel cylinders good 1 leaking, and it goes on and on. With the fenders off I can see at least 1 motor mount bolt is loose to the point where it's ready to fall off. The motor mounts are going to be replaced with nice fresh new mounts so it's no big deal, but it could have been interesting if I didn't notice. I like knowing that what I'm doing is actually making a differance with this Jeep.

How could you possibly get the motor to bolt to the bell with that much extra input shaft??

Installed new dual diagram booster tonight. Bleeding after dinner

Started the connecting of wires again. Starting to look like a CJ again! Bumped the starter just to make sure I had that in the right place as well.

Put the roof on.

not even Labor day but will need it week after next, I am sure.

Finally pulled the AMC 304 engine, cleaned up the fire wall. It would have been better if to have had a bead blaster to get in the tight areas. It isn't perfect, but WAY better than the pealing mess it was before. While at it some hanging metal that should have been welded was welded.

About 50% of the bolt nut tabs holding the fenders on were stripped, problematic nuts were taking the load. So, the old nuts were drilled out with real nuts welded flush to the firewall. I think this is a great solution since getting to tabs that need to be fixed was almost impossible.

People keep asking me why I'm giving up on the AMC 304 . Today was an example why. All the nuts on the motor mounts were removed only with my fingers, no wrench, the engine was essentially sitting on the frame with little holding it there. This was the one place where I didn't expect work. The good thing is the engine and its components are the last thing left to touch before completion of this project.

Got the rebuild kit for the rochester two jet and put the carb back together and got it fired up.

Changed those dang outer rear axle seals on the 68.. What a pain!!!
