Started my dog "seat belt" and harness...

Sewed the webbing to the seat bolt anchors...

Ordered buckles and other misc. hardware for the project.

Many moons ago in Texas, before emissions testing, the inspection was a "safety" inspection. Lights, wipers, lights, tires. They always tagged you for out of alignment headlights. They would then roll the headlight alignment machine and fix your headlights.

Now that I have taken the headlights and grill apart many times in the rebuild, think I could find a shop that can align the headlights? They all look at me funny when I ask.

I always found a flat, level parking lot next to a building. Back up 100’ or so, measure ground to center of headlight, then tape a paper plate to the wall at the same height. Sight down both sides of the Jeep to make sure plates are in similar distance apart as the lights, then align the high beams to the plates. The lows will naturally point down and right. I did that for years. Real high-tech

Its all about the sewing machine. Can't be done with a residential machine. I taught myself to sew while restoring vintage sewing machines, then got into leather with a modest compound feed commercial machine which works well with upholstery and webbing.

I'll do a write up as I get further along. The harness will be a combination of leather and webbing.

I'll probably lose my man card, but this is a dress I made for my lovely wife... and that's Cooper with her...

Very cool, there is a guy here in Dallas on YouTube that I like to watch he got started in sewing by making a dress for his wife, what a great gift something made with your own hands to perfectly fit her

Got the rebuilt T-18 and regeared Dana 20 installed. Just need to hook up the drive shafts, skid plate, and anti wrap bar and she'll be (hopefully) ready to ride.

Just a few. I alway say I'm going to take pictures and document stuff like this and always get in a hurry and forget.


Transmission before teardown

This is the inside rear of the case before reassembly. At first I thought a gear was rubbing the case, but when I got it back together, there's no way the gears could have been rubbing the case. Still at a loss in that one.

Unfortunately no pictures of these finished transmission, but it was an ordeal finishing the rebuild...I bought a rebuild kit 2nd hand that was supposed to fit my exact T-18 ('79 CJ), but had the wrong input bearing. Ordered the correct bearing and busted 2 bearing retainers before I figured out the snap ring on the new bearing was too big and swapped it out for the old one.

Here's a pic of the 2.46 low range gears in the Dana 20 .
