With two, in my misses opinion, more valuable vehicles to protect from Colorado hail I have been moved outdoors. Carcovers.com, good material, strong elastic, held up to a 60 mph cold front passage without effort. Just sayin, if it has to be outside for awhile, this one is pretty good and only a couple hundred bucks. "more valuable vehicles"

I hope that the lack of posts in this section aren't the result of a lack of jeeping. Had the carburetor rebuilt and a good looking over of the vacuum lines and gas lines. Taking the groaning front end in next week for an upgrade on the tie rod and drag link and place some 4 degree shims to help my castor... finally. The fresh carb is an amazing thing, Just saying.

Seems I was in posting jail. I could see in but couldn’t post or reply. Looks like CH got me squared away!!
I bought new leaf springs..... mine are tired and flat. Found a dude selling the same kit as what I already have for 200 bucks. While it ain’t a set of ONE springs, it’s 200 bucks LOL. Now I just need to scrape up the time to swap em in.

i blew up my engine slammed a new one together and did a complete engine swap in a mere 3 days and then drove an untested motor 500 miles round trip to OC MD Jeep week and back. look at those suckers glow during break in

pulled the old drag link and tie rod and put in a rugged ridge 1 ton kit. Also had 4 degree shims put in. The handling is night and day. I still want to put in a HD steering box and a stronger bracket but I'll need to put more money in the jar first. Totally unprepared to find my misses now want's to use my dd as her occasional dd. I've never had to share before. Still troubled a bit about how that makes me feel. I'm stoked that she finds it stable enough to drive after all of these years! And she wasn't asking, she's chosen her days of the week.

sorry mdeluca, didn't mean to not respond. It was just a rebuild kit to refurb a tired old carb. More of a make sure there aren't any missing or worn out parts type of thing. I still run the old school carb and vacuum system. I like it

- 1979 CJ5 Renegade 258, t-18 pretty much stock except for a later model aluminum intake manifold and Gronk 2150.
Set out to figure why the battery was draining. Turns out the ignition can be left on inadvertently even with the key out. The new ignition switch seems to have fixed that. However, once I got into the steering column I found the TS switch was cracked so.... new switch on order. I also replaced the Hi/Lo switch which had come apart.
Next up is figure out why the front turn signals don't work.

Had an issue with my Lokar shifter knob. Been in place about 2 years now and the plastic knob had stripped the threads where it screws onto the shift lever. Kinda cheapie in that there was no metal insert in the plastic where it screws on. Just the plastic threads onto the metal lever. It has a push button in the top that presses a cable to engage/disengage the locking mechanism at the base of the shifter. So no generic screw on knob would work. Had to have one with a push button in the top and the correct amount of button movement to fully disengage the locking mechanism. So I found a piece of AMC 304 stainless scrap laying around the shop, chucked it up in the lathe, and turned a new knob and button. Some drilling, tapping, and polishing, and now a shiny new stainless steel shift knob. It's patterned after the "mushroom" style of the original and the button works exactly the same. Maybe add a monogrammed initial on top of the button?

Agreed. I like that a lot. I need a new knob for my 3a shifter. I wish I had the ability to turn my own. We will see what I come up with.

Lots of options if you don't need the button in the center. I thought about a pistol grip and how to make the trigger replace the button. But in the end, turning some existing scrap on the lathe was the easiest to solve the problem.
