What did you do to or with your CJ today?

Went online and actually found a dealer badge from, back in the day, when I sold jeeps for this dealer. Had to apply one to the back of the jeep just in case anyone remembers a long gone dealership. Renault and the AMC Ambassador did in AMC. Selling Jeep off helped the shareholders keep some of their money. IMHO

Finally got the exhaust reworked, it's almost silent now. Noise is overrated at slow speeds.

Replaced the choke cable, and this time the mount is solid, unlike when a so called mechanic first stuffed it in during the build up.

Tie rod ends, and why they are worn out in 17k miles baffles me, kept well greased.

Joined a local Jeep Club, SW PA Jeep Brigade, in the Canonsburg PA 4th of July parade, it's the biggest parade in the state of PA.

Had a ton of fun decorating the CJ and driving in the parade!

What muffler did you go with? I just swapped a 4.0 in to replace a dead AMC 304 , and the AMC 304 was running duals with what looked like header mufflers. Being cheap, I kept the drivers side exhaust run. Now it sounds like a loud motor boat…… I’m thinkin quiet is the way to go now LOL

Our jeep has had a nonfunctioning, factory installed, air conditioner, for as long as I have owned it. With a soft top and doors it has always seemed to be counter productive to spend money on bringing it into the present day. With the addition of the hard top and doors and the increase in days in the mid 90s year after year, (the weather in Colorado is definitely changing to very hot all summer) I opted to change the system from R12 to R134A. For about the cost of a one week vacation, I now have a fully functioning air conditioner. Yes, it maintains a pleasant temperature. No, it is not too noisy. Yes, the gas milage is sure to suffer. I no longer have to leave it parked in the garage and drive the Suburban on hot days because I don't want to drive an easy bake oven around.

The costs will continue as we move forward with the evolution of my dd. I noticed immediately a large draw down on my voltmeter when I turned on the ac the first time. I am putting a AMC 150 -amp alternator and a new voltage regulator in next week. I plan on installing a headliner on the hardtop, insulating the floor and adding carpet next spring. Amazing how hot the roof and floor are. I don't spend money climbing into cockpits anymore so making this old jeep nicer doesn't seem so bad.
