I changed the gear oil in my T-150 and Transfer Case - I learned where my exhaust ticking is coming from. I have multiple muffler leaks, at the seams mainly.

I need muffler recommendations. I have true duals exiting at the rear corners with stock manifolds. As far as I know the engine is stock except for an Edelbrock Performer intake and Edel 4 barrel carb. I want to hear it but not too loud and I like the deep tones. I might replace the cam one day to one that a trained ear knows it's been changed (not too radical).

Love the Golden!
Funny Jeep/Golden story…
The first summer after I met the girl who would be my wife, we went to Leadville in my ‘79 CJ5 and my Golden Retriever, Chardy. We camped and wheeled for a few days in the high country. Well, one night, above 10,000’, it sleeted and snowed on us. That night and next morning was definitely a trial and test of our fledgling relationship. A wet, and very smelly dog, along with being miserable, cold and wet in a topless Jeep was a pretty bad experience.
I thought “no way” would this sweet girl ever stick around. That was over 30 years ago and that sweet girl still likes bouncing around with me and the dogs in a Jeep! IMG_9667.webp

She sounds like a keeper!

My wife tells her friends about the time I somehow talked her into helping paint rooms in my house. This was circa 2001. I don’t remember it, but she does!

Been gathering some parts over the last several weeks. Some known ahead and some last few days as the fun continues with Jeeps. First was an Aussie Locker for the front. Been having a LockRight in the rear for like 30 - 35 years. Since I had never been deep into that front axel it was time to order u joints and seals and spindle bearings. I have done new front wheel bearings probably 3 times over the life and they were still good. Then about a week before starting the work I started having clutch problems. It was the hydraulic slave cylinder on the Transmission . Ordered the Novak and a rebuild kit and decided to buy a Wilwood clutch master cylinder to try in the future. Drove it to my buddies house last Saturday for some help. Worked on it 3 days and finished up. Holy :dung:. That's a lot of work.
I wish you would start a different thread.

Going to on mine.

@Belizean I could of done all that work, but it would have cut into my beer drinking time.😅👍

Unfortunately I’m getting to where I can’t do some of that stuff without having some problems. We ran into a couple of typical Jeep problems and my friend was able to overcome them. He’s got practice with 2 7s and also 2 8s so CJs are his thing.

Well, here we go! Fall fun time is over. Monday I’ll be starting the winter work. I towed the jeep back down from the mountains to my warehouse for the winter. I started pulling the diamond plate off, and seeing the extent of the rust. Straight metal in good shape had some pretty thick bondo over it. I’ll get that back corner off and keep going with the exploration.

Many years ago I saw people covering it up instead of fighting it then.

That's a bummer! Diamond plate is a real Jeep killer. Reminds me when I left my CJ5 parked outside for a year with the top on and all the floor drains plugged. Bad times.

I think he fought it, there’s lots of braising, but then somebody tried to make a show car out of it with bondo. And then covered it with diamond plate. *shrug*. Maybe different owners? I know the PO liked the diamond plate look. It seems odd to go through all the work of bondo to cover it up with plate. Maybe the body work was done by the guy before him?

I took the last little bit (I believe) of slop out of my steering by adjusting the input shaft of the Saginaw box and readjusting the easy to get to adjustment on the top of it. So, my steering issues were: missing bushing behind the turn signal canceling assm in the column, lower steering shaft, loose front wheel bearings, worn drag link, and steering box out of adjustment. I believe I'm satisfied with it now, it's pretty dang good.

Added a tach

That’s a bad feeling when your Jeep isn’t driving where you are trying to get to

Started ordering sheet metal. I was able to get a piece of flat 18g, but ran into issues getting the wheel arch.

I’m not sure Key Parts is still alive. They aren’t showing any parts and don’t have any contact info listed.

Classic enterprises had a busy phone line. I’ll get through eventually, I hope, lol. Worst case I guess I’d be able to get the shape off the passenger side and copy. I’d rather not do that though!

I talked to the repair shop next to me about ordering a new drag link. He’s having trouble finding the long side. He looked at Napa, O’Reilly and Advance. I may have to go aftermarket for that. Odd.

The original tie rod and drag link were pretty thin walled. A good improvement is a heavy duty replacement of both and flipped to the top. IMG_4624.webp IMG_4623.webp IMG_4622.webp IMG_4621.webp IMG_4620.webp
