Done and done.

The messiest part was draining a gallon of coolant to get the new temp probe in. The oil pressure gauge is pegging around 60 psi, which is what the old one did. The temp gauge stays around 160, which seems a little low as my old gauge had a 180-190 operating temp. Its not the probe location because I put in the same intake manifold port as the old one.

All in the job cost me about $40:
$9 for the gauges kit + $11 shipping
$10 Burr Bit
$10 Copper Tube Kit
Considering they're Summit Racing brand gauges and not some cheap Chinese knock off, I think I got a pretty good deal. Time will tell.

Waiting for the flurries to happen.

New master cylinder. I'll bleed the system tomorrow if it's not too cold. Made a mess as usual. IMG_2330.webp

I changed the oil, while it was out I put a little JBWeld around the alternative drain plug that the PO installed, probably due to a cross thread in the past. For giggles I decided to see if the pan bolts were tight. Maybe that was the source of part of the leak. I was able to tighten them on the side that didn’t have the starter in the way. I don’t know if that helped, lol. Now that the oil is back in, it started dripping again. I didn’t want to pull the starter unless I had to.

Still playing with the shifter, still playing with the body. I’ve been busy so I didn’t have time to get much done.

Catching up on some little things over the holidays. I filled in a couple small rust holes in the upper cowl with silicone sealant. Last time it rained it was dripping under the dashboard. Fingers crossed.🤞 While I was sealing up everything, I installed a Kentrol Windshield tie down kit. The hood stops feel rock solid and maybe better then OEM. 👍

New Kentrol hood vent to replace the broken plastic. I should have distressed it first.

Looking good! That's the problem though. You start replacing parts, and pretty soon your doing a Collins Brothers frame off restoration. 😁 👍

I'm currently up to my armpits with this nonsense. I didn't do anything with it today because Christmas but I'll get back at it tomorrow because I gotta put front drive axles on my Wife's 300. 😒

Looking like a rodent nest you got there.

I made and installed a new battery tray today. It is 1/8" thick AMC 304 stainless, heated and hammered to match the angles between the firewall and the fender well and bolted in place. Now my arms are tired from the hammering. New battery tray.webp

Interesting. I was trying to say "three zero four stainless" as in the type of steel, but it was auto-changed to AMC 304. I'm just adding this in case it was confusing.
AI doing your thinking for you. :chug: I had that a couple of days ago and had to go back and correct it also.

Yesterday and today I finally found and repaired my (now I know it was 2) exhaust leaks. Yesterday I dropped the right side exhaust back enough so I could weld a leaky weld joint just downstream of the passenger side exhaust manifold. Bolted that back up and the ticking was better but not gone. Google said to use a wet/dry vac and blow into the pipe. It was hissing like crazy on the forward most air tube. All 8 air tubes look like they were welded shut decades ago but this one was cracked at the base and it was blowing straight down (crack hidden from view). I loosened the large bolt head and rotated the tube straight up. I ground the rust away and welded the hole shut.

Also today, I determined all 4 of my rear shackle bushings are toast. I have been fixing many issues causing my unsatisfactory steering over the months. I should have gone in order from the sticky steering thread on here that said address all rear problems first. Anyway, I ordered new bushings and feel that will finally get it to where I want. I used my torch to heat up the spring and frame bushing holders and after they started melting/burning/dripping I pushed them out.

Just finished installing a 12X8 air cleaner. Love the way it looks, but like anything with old jeeps, what started as a quick job turned into a week long slog. My carb never came with the mounting stud. My old Mr. Gasket air filter was hose clamped to the inlet, but this thing is 4 pounds of aluminum, so that's not an option. Then it turns out no one makes that mounting stud anymore, so I had to drop $30 for the OEM part, which is a lot considering it's just metal wire and a welded bolt. Picked up a neck adapter so it'll fit my 2BBL, and now i'm good to go. Time will tell. I took her for a drive around the neighborhood, and everything seems to be holding. My concern is the neck adapter, which is pretty flimsy plastic. Fingers crossed. 👍
