GTO has a 428 in it. Original was 400. 455 wasn't available until 70

I took off a few pieces off of the front end. As I took off each piece, I was noticing how often I kept saying to myself, "I probably need a new or better one of these." My CJ7 front suspension.webp

That's basically everything. Hows the frame?

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the frame still was. This weekend, I'm thinking of looking at everything I should do while it's all apart. Maybe yj springs, high steer, new shocks and shackles. I'm taking the axle to ECGS for a pinion bearing replacement, so I'll have a bit of time to research what will be solid improvements. If anyone wants to add what they wish they did while everything was off, I'm listening to suggestions. Thanks.

Acquired a “Cab Cover” in hopes of using it while trailering. Going over/through the mountains with all the slush on the roads in the spring makes for a nasty interior/dash/inside of glass/etc. Always thought a cab cover sure would be nice.

Couldn’t find a cover that is rated as “towable”, but have seen a few people who have used them as such with an extra strap going across the lower windshield. Sounds like air gets underneath the cover there and pulls it off/causes issues.

So, I found a good cover online with lots of hold down straps. I added some grommets to the lower front edge and will slip a strap/rope through them and cinch it down. Will see how it works if I keep it under 75mph.

I have one like that I forget what brand it's very heavy with multiple tie downs. I've never towed with it though

I can see where that would be a great idea. I was thinking if I ever towed mine it would probably have the full top on.
