The photos are of 2 brackets that were with the many boxes of parts comprising my wife's new 84 Jeep. "the Jeep in a box." I cannot locate where they go, or what they do. Any help? They are 12 inches long and 2 inches wide, made of heavy steel.
Thanks!
Lance

I have taken a 83 apart and don't remember seeing those.

Rear tub supports. From rear body mounts to tub IIRC.

Best diagram I have of it. It's in the body mounts section of the FSM. #5.

So I just went to lift my tub off and noted this tub support. Do both ends have to come off to raise the tub, and also is the fuel tank attached to the body other than the fill hose?

only the end that attaches to the tub needs to come loose, the fuel tank is mounted to the skid plate which is mounted to the frame. only thing that attaches to the body are the filler hoses, vent hoses, and gas tank sending unit wiring

Don't remember those being on my 76 CJ5 when I tore it apart. Wonder when AMC added them????

I had noticed them on my jeep before, but looking at the picture CL provided I didn't recognize them. But there they are on mine when I just looked

So if Mine never had them (weren't there when I tore it down) should I fab some up and replace? That would be easier than trying to scrounge up originals....
