You know you own a CJ when...

very nice Jeep hologenicman

Thanks!

The PO had it since '88 and I was lucky enough to find him in the right situation to sell it. He said it felt like selling a child...

I'm learning about it in leaps and bounds and really really appreciate all the hard work that he had put into it over the years. I actually almost bought one of these myself back in '88 but couldn't afford it then. It is really kool to be finally driving a CJ now that I'm older. It really fits my style and speed ☺

Yep, I know what you mean. My Jeep suits me to a T. Nothing else feels quite the same...

When: the everyday trip to work can be an adventure. Going to work in my car is just another trip to work. With the Jeep every turn, every shift, every oppertunity to pass is new and interesting. I enjoy the darned thing too much...

...when your son buys a 1970 CJ5 as his first car...

Very cool. Pics?

I'm encouraging him to sign up on the forum and put some pics up. He's super busy doing college/high school combo program so we'll see how soon he gets it done...

It has a V6 which runs quitely and has a lot of power for such a cute little engine. The CJ5 body is really clean with a new roll cage and soft top. The seats are worn and held together with duct tape, but that made my son love it all the more ;-)

BTW, I've decided that I like CJ7 's better than CJ5 's based purely on the fact that my belly fits behind the steering wheel of a CJ7 much better...

Ohhhh Nooooo! never give up never give in to the belly making your decissions for you. At one time I had the belly problem. After looking at all the different diet and exercise programs I settled on the best solution of all. I shortened the steering column and notched the wheel wells ..... WINNER.... Love my CJ5 .

...OK, it happened. A random lady walked up to me in a parking lot and asked if my CJ7 is for sale...

Reminds me of the guy training his dog

"Sit......."
"Sit......."
"Sit...................."

"Stand"
"Good, boy!"

Sometimes the path of least resistance works just fine :-)

.....you have to "modify" wiper refills to fit yours.

when you see Sammy Hagar's song, "I can't drive 55" in a whole different way.

So true! Never thought of it 'till I read your post.

when you're changing heater hoses - and the captive screw on hose clamp securing a tired heater hose to water pump is inaccessible by screw driver and is worn nearly round - and you mutter to yourself, "thank you previous owner, sir! may i have another?"

you wash your clothes with FAST ORANGE
all your neighbors think your a mechanic by trade
you explain to your friend that owns a JK that his is just a good looking truck

JD - or you don't even bother with the screw driver and cut the darned thing off with a dremel tool.

Here's one:
When: the PO replaced his heater hoses enough to wear out the clamp, but insisted on using it one more time...

I will have to get more modern and buy a dremel.

I sorta thought they were a flash in the pan, like the (clap on/clap off) clapper.

I see from their website they have way more attachments than I'd ever dreamed and more people must love 'em more than I could have ever imagined.

You don't really have to use a Dremel, any die grinder with a cutoff wheel will due. I was just thinking , "Something small for tight places." Dremel tools have probably fixed and unfortunately destroyed more things ..... well they have a double edge to them. Gunsmiths love them for the work they bring into their shop.
